Does the Luton coach speak German (which is important for a Bayern coach)?
Is he the type of personality with a reputable playing career that will command respect in a locker room full of big names/egos?
I'm sure Kompany will probably do fine. I really dont think he could do any worse than Tuchel did. The best thing Bayern could do is the opposite of what we did when we were getting ready for some club turnover during Pirlo's season. One so-so season and instead of having patience of trying to build something with Pirlo, it was full panic and the return of Allegri.
If Bayern finish 2nd or 3rd next season but you see there signs of positive football, stick with him and let him continue to build

The Chelsea situation with Poch, De Zerbi leaving Brighton, and Tuchel are all about the clash between managers who want to control transfers vs clubs that want a more corporate structure and chain of command. Especially in English football, gone are the days of a Wenger or SAF controlling transfer policy.

I honestly think it more has to do with the fact that the coaching candidates are so uninspiring right now.
Bayern, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United (potentially) all have jobs available and there are no top candidates really looking for those jobs.
If Xabi Alonso or Klopp wanted any of those jobs and wanted control in building the club, they would get that. But when the available candidates are all have question marks on their resumes, they're not going to get the power that a rock star coach would get.
As for Poch, De Zerbi, and Tuchel, sure they want control --- but all those coaches werent exactly performing well with their clubs. If they were having massive success, I'm sure they'd get more power and control within their clubs.

Better late than never. He had already taken pictures in a Bayern shirt last year, but the deal fell through in the last second as Fulham didn't get a replacement in time.

Not a sexy player, but exactly what they need. Some defensive stability in the middle of the pitch. I wonder if they'll slide Kimmich back inside now.
They wont do this, but Palhinha at defensive midfielder with Laimer also starting in the midfield and running/pressing like crazy would make them incredibly more difficult to play against -- especially if they kept Kimmich inside with his ability on the ball. I'm just not convinced they'll ever go more balanced and switch from their 4-2-3-1 type formation with 4 attacking players.
