Definitely imo. But in hindsight, paying 80m for a defender from the eredivisie is very risky. I don’t think he was bad, just mostly okay.

In fairness, we all wanted him. Golden boy, 19 year old leader who just made it to the CL semi’s and we had an aging Bonucci - Chiellini with one ready to retire.

We all wanted him, and I still want him in Juve if he didn't wanna leave. His not perfect but he is still a top class young CB, very well rounded game.

It's rare for CBs to be as ready as he was from teen years (If we didnt pay that price Barca or Man City would have, and still had him). Will take time to mentally flesh out fully as top player (lack of focus at times) , but already one of the better top CBs.


Upamecano has no bussiness starting over him.

De Ligt is class and will only get better in the coming years. He was our best defender last year, lots of great games in the last half of the season especially.
