Report: Real Madrid set to pounce on Julian Nagelsmann after Bayern Munich sacking
After Bayern Munich dropped a bombshell by (unofficially) sacking Julian Nagelsmann yesterday, the rest of the footballing world is beginning to catch up. Real Madrid, who were allegedly already in the hunt for a new manager to replace Carlo Ancelotti this summer, seem to be the first club looking to profit from this unexpected development.

Per Spanish publication Relevo, Julian Nagelsmann has been on Florentino Perez’s radar since forever. This isn’t actually speculation — Nagelsmann himself revealed that he turned down a move to the Spanish capital back in 2018. At the time, the then-RB Leipzig manager felt that he wasn’t ready for such a huge step up. Now, with the experience at Bayern Munich under his belt, he may feel he’s ready to take up another top job.

Madrid’s decision to move for Nagelsmann may have been influenced by Bayern taking Thomas Tuchel off the market. There is a layer of irony to this, as the fear of losing Tuchel to Madrid is what motivated the Bayern executives to make the snap decision to sack Nagelsmann with no prior warning (if certain reports are to be believed).

Is Bayern’s loss going to be Madrid’s gain? Or will this end poorly for all involved? All we know is, Julian Nagelsmann is a man in demand. Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea FC, and other big clubs around Europe will be battling for his signature this coming summer. If he wants it, then he can be coaching in the Champions League again by the beginning of next season. Or even earlier, depending on the circumstances.

We are in a rebuild right now, we won everything three years ago, two to four players could retire in the next two years. We have no patience, and Nags grewe up a Bayern fan. Not a huge fan of Ze Tommy Tuch.
Tbh Madrid had been courting nagglesclown for some time now, can't imagine he'd want the spurs job especially with Levy being as tight as he is with money. Can totally see Poch whoring himself to spurs before he becomes irrelevant

Nagelsmann: "Either everything is super good or everything is super bad. There's nothing in between. At the beginning of last season, for example, I was praised for speaking out on many topics. I was described as refreshing."

Nagelsmann: "Almost overnight, the exact same thing was interpreted negatively in public. Before the games against Paris, to give a sporting example, it was criticized that we were playing with alternating back 4 and back 3.
After that, it was hailed as the greatest tactic ever"

Nagelsmann: "These extremes are difficult to comprehend. At FC Bayern, you experience the fast pace of football to the extreme. If we had been eliminated, everyone would have said: catastrophic tactics by Nagelsmann, why did he play Stanišić?"

Even if I was never his biggest fan is he spot on here. Football is so black and white from the fans, media, board etc.

Bayern is just up there as one of the most difficult jobs for a coach/manager.

BREAKING: New reports state that the club was not happy that Nagelsmann's girlfriend was a reporter working for BILD.

Some players weren't able to communicate what they were thinking anymore. Because they were afraid that everything would end up in the newspaper.

JN's girlfriend was a big problem for Bayern Munich.

That sounds silly. Casillas girlfriend and then wife worked for big channel and newspaper for a decade. Shouldnt be a conflict of interest if you separate work from relationship.

I thought Nagelsmann would be sacked last year after Bayern's hot and cold form and Villarreal defeat.

Yeah last year would made more sense for sure. Was mediocre all around.

This year league wasn't ideal but the CL was fine. But opportunity to get Tuchel was too good to pass for them.

Casillas was called a rat in Real Madrid dressing room because of that if I recall correctly, some didn't like it.
