I take it Raiola was happy either way?
Raiola played a role in that, yes. He will earn some good money from this transfer.

Raiola is also one of the main men when PSG is checking the market. PSG's Antero Henrique was the one behind the "marriage" of Verratti-x-Raiola.

Henrique thinks that to become a strong club, you need a good relationship with some heavy weight ( lol ) people. For example, PSG is one of Raiola main bases, while Mendes is not, and has extreme difficulties to deal with PSG.

The other one that entered PSG's surrounding this year is Pini Zahavi. That's thank to him PSG got Neymar, and he's also working on MBappé's transfer right now.

I'm not saying N'Zonzi is a bad player. What I'm saying is that he's not that better than Matuidi to cost twice the money.
He might not have been exactly twice but yeah fair enough 'almost'.

The question is who would have fitted our system better and how serious we were to solidify our midfield. We saw against Lazio how we needed some steel. Matuidi isnt the answer. He is good but nowhere as solid as Nzonzi.

We dont have the money - I understand
He's not good enough - I dont understand

So the guy basically like to be locked in and told "you cannot leave"? Doesn't make sense tbh
One of PSG's mottos is to "keep their best players at all cost" even against theur will (see verratti). And yes, there are players like Matuidi who would have liked to be told as such (I'm not making this up, it was in Le Parisien 3 months ago when PSG offered him a second contract extension but still said to him that he can leave too no problem).

Do you think its the FFP pressure, the fact that they want players to say we want to leave but at the same time cant decide who they want out?

We are been manipulated by transfer agents systematically. It's obvious on transfers like Rincon.
Matuidi ATM makes no tactical sense, most of the goals we concede, come from the sides, esp our RB.
Khedira, Pjanic and Marchisio can hold the ball and play it rough, but that's not why were so bad in the last finals.
We were bad because our forward line was cut of in the middle line and our only tactical option was solitary efforts from our wingers and desperate long balls.
What we lack the most in our center of the midfield is not muscles, but brains, not tackles, but passes upfront.
And Matuidi is quite the opposite of what we need. If we get that too though, he is an upgrade to inconsistent Khedira and Marchisio

I think you're confused. Matuidi is good at passing, he also has a good brain. You've gone and said all the opposite about him.
