- 30 years old
- not suited to a 2 man-mid
- not technical gifted to give those slicing passes/assists from midfield
- not what we need now, last year surely. But we need a force in CM like Matic or N'Zonzi
We have Pjanic for that. Also Nzonzi isnt some tech passer/assister either.

I'm not happy at this one but if it's for 15ml I'll be more indifferent about it. But really, what's the point?

Now a 3 man midfield becomes an option for those games we will need an extra body in the middle.

Higuain - Dybala

Bernardeschi

Matuidi - Marchisio - Pjanic

Alex Sandro - Chiellini - Rugani - Spinazzola
Buffon

But still in a double pivot I would rather start a healthy Marchisio instead of Matuidi.

Disgusting. We're gonna be stuck with him cuz we'll offer him huge wages (his agent is that greedy fat prick Raiola after all), and probably miss out on a potential WC midfielder in SMS next season because of this giant turd.

Where do you get the second part from?

If anything all the money we haven't spent rolls over into other windows when better opportunities arise. We aren't going to throw a lot of money around just because we might have it, it has to be the right player.

Juventus will reportedly sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi for a fee of around €15m.

It was reported last night that the Bianconeri had stepped-up their pursuit of the French midfielder, who they were close to signing last summer.

This morning Corriere dello Sport is reporting that a deal is all-but done, with Matuidi set to join for around €15m.

In PSG’s three official matches so far this season the midfielder hasn’t started, and he was given just three minutes against Guingamp on Sunday.

The 14 shirt, Matuidi’s preferred number, is free in Turin and it’s expected that a deal will officially be announced soon

Gut feeling, knowing Marotta's haggling and penny pinching ways, and how we have failed to address the midfield issue since the sale of Pogba :sigh: I really miss that midfield we once used to have. Now, it's just a sad imitation. Once upon a time, that midfield was a Ferrari. Now, it's merely a Tuk-Tuk.

With a two-man midfield we can include Pjanic and/or Marchisio (what people think about Khedira is up to them), so look at it two ways - either we need one strong CM or we stop focusing on the midfield when attack is the new Ferrari part of our team.

Considering how we were linked with Wilshere less than 24 hours ago, id take Matuidi. Like they say, count your blessings, it could have gone a lot worse. :agree:

It doesn't have to be this way. Why must we constantly weaken one part of the team, to strengthen another? It happens every single year. Our midfield used to be a solid 9, not it's barely a 7. Our defense went from being a reference point, a foundation of fortitude, again, a solid 9, to a mere 7 with the sales of Bonucci and Alves. Sure, we've upgraded out attack, but at what cost?

Well we can't play 4-3-4 so I think you know what I'm getting at. Do you think we will have a squad with four world class midfielders if we are largely going to play a two-man pivot?

It shouldn't be this way. Ambitions teams strengthen. We weaken parts of our core only to strengthen other parts of it. It's fucking baffling and frustrating. That's why I don't understand people who fap to death and say "oh, this is a 9/10 mercato." How the fuck is it a 9/10 or 10/10 mercato when you weakened parts of your team, and sold two important players? :boh:

Marchisio is a question mark, Khedira is becoming a liability, and Pjanic is arguably the only WC midfielder at present. I'm sure Marchisio is willing to rotate for the sake of the team, and I'm also certain that if we bring in a new, young CM with lots of potential, he'd be willing to bide his time and wait for his opportunity. I couldn't care less about Khedira, and he's probably fucking off at the end of this season anyway.

It will never be a 9 or 10. Those who say that are happy with mediocrity in life, in football, in sex, in work, in everything.

However I do agree about weakening and strengthening. Our midfield has improved from last year and so has our attack. Defence, theres no argument about it , we have weakened but theres still a few weeks to go. Lets keep on praying...
