Facepalm as much as you like, but if we litterally replace Lemina with Matuidi, that is a significant upgrade to our team (especially when sum is close to eachother).

It would be an upgrade, but it would also be spending 20m or so on a player not suited to a midfield 2, of debatable quality, on high wages and who at 30 years old is going to have very little sell on value when we inevitably decide to get rid of him.

It's ok because he'd never start in our base formation anyways. We will however alternate to a 433, and there's space for him in that.

What I mean is that you don't get an awful lot for €20-€25m now. We just sold a guy who has done nothing for €17m + €3m, on the basis of him being young-ish and with some talent. And we can't even sell players, allegedly.

I've also noticed that the 12 month contract thing seems to mean less now. You see Keita and us being quoted €30m, I remember when you'd see players going for half of their transfer value with 12 months left.

For 20 to 30 mill. we can not find better. Emre Can is not coming after saying he is happy the Premier league starts and Siviglia will not sell Nzonzi for less than 40 mill.
I personally hope for Rodrigo Bentancur, he has great potential and talent and see him play often in our team after being here for 6 months.
