Nothing to do with Inda core or JJ core. This team just plain sucks. An outdated footballing country with outdated philosophy and outdated footballing infrastructure.
Yeah, every now and then you can fluke your way to a Euro or see your clubs participate in a CL final but the writing's on the wall.
Besides that, Shitaly has a large immigrant population yet cannot produce the calibre of a player like Yamal or a Doue.
I can see this team falling further behind and being at the level of tier 2 nations for another good decade or two.
On a sidenote, I will be shocked if Spain and/or France don't win world cups in the next 10 year cycle. Those two pre-historic world cups won in Mussolini era look too flattering towards Italy.

Italy would probably have more World Cups than Brazil if not for WW2 and the almost-unbeatable Grande Torino team being wiped out in the plane crash. That team pretty much made up the bulk of Italy during that time (with a Juve goalkeeper lol).
You can’t just discount trophies won from another era, it doesn’t work that way. Just because they’re shit now (clearly) it wasn’t always this way, and they have been one of the few genuine world football powers and have the history and heritage to back it up.

Probably should have been sacked after Euro 2024. Clearly not up to the job and he seems as crazy, stubborn and frazzled as he was in Inter and late-stage Roma days.
Italy’s problems go way deeper than who sits on the bench. We all know what they are, but we also all know absolutely nothing will be done to even attempt to fix the many issues in the governance, culture and general way that the sport is currently practiced in that country.

Also, I’m glad that there weren’t any Juventus players on the field for this disaster. It pretty much sums up modern-day Azzurri teams too.

So people always whining about us getting rid of Italian players, consider this: we don’t keep them or have many of them - even tho it’s been our tradition to always have the best ones - because currently they are of a mediocre level. It’s that simple. That’s why the Fagioli’s, Miretti’s and Rovella that we owned are sold or loaned out.

Italy had lots of competition in the forward areas, that is why. How old are you? Surely you remember Totti vs Del Piero? Players like Zola barely getting a game.

Yep. They were really good from early 2019 until the Euro win. Still hold the world record for the longest undefeated streak in international football.

Gravina and FIGC have been riding on that 2021 win for far too long. There are some good signs on the horizon as the U17 and U19 teams have been very good in recent times and you're starting to see the first of those guys come through in Leoni. But the current situation is desperate. Spalletti is also a coach who has never inspired me with confidence.
