Dreadful overall from Spalletti.

This team has a massive dearth of talent however Spalletti came into a tournament unsure of how he wanted to play, you can't really do that with a mediocre squad.

He fell into the trap of playing his mates instead of who was best. How do you not start Zaccagni after the goal he scored? Bizzarre selection choices as well. Overall dreadful.

I can so see Italy winning the World Cup in 2026 with Allegri getting sent off 3 seconds from the final whistle with the ball at the opponents corner flag. Unfortunately, this time, his shirt may also come off.

Gravina should definitely go but he won't. They are all satisfied with trying to tear us down instead.
He's going ,pressure is mounting and there is an investigation or money laundering as well, after this failure and what he's done to the league all in favor of his intermerda, time is ticking can't wait till monday or sunday, he needs to be removed, now, he's a lame duck, better to cut off his head than be pushed out by the government in charge and now they have an excuse to turf this turd once and for all.

put it this way, however bad Locatelli might have been last season, I trust him to do a better job than fucking folorunsho and cristante.

You know something? Spalletti and Gravina will show up in front of the press tomorrow and announce they'll go forwards together

That's when you know Italy wont qualify for a 3rd straight world cup. I'd even put money on it.
I will not take that bet, Gravinter is going to get the chop whether he wants to stay or not, this exit and not making 2 world cups doesn't mean they want him, in fact the government want him gone.

This is why most good coaches dont do National teams. You don't have enough time to implement your philosophy, you also have a group that for the most part has no chemistry or esprit de corps, and usually plays when they are all burned out.
Good national team coaches are ones who can really fire up a team and keep em focused, all the while know how to make in game adjustments and subs. It's not really about tactics imo

Other than Anceloti, I don’t see any other experienced Italian coach capable of winning the World Cup at this time. Might be time to try a foreign coach but that would probably never happen in the foreseeable future.

Absolutely. You need man motivators, Mancini did it perfectly in the previous Euros. Average squad but a real sense of team.

Regardless of how good or bad the coach is, whatever happened to the quality of the players? The only world-class player that Italy has at this moment is Donnarumma. Calafiori might become the next Scirea / Cannavaro. Chiesa has become an also-ran and everyone else is just average or above average at best.

The National team has never been this poor purely from a technical quality perspective.

However, you can overcome that with unity, spirit and organisation…. And we had none of that. Ironically, Spalletti was trying to modernise the style of play. But given the quality is low, sticking to an old fashioned counter attacking style may have suited this kind of team better. Modern tactics would have done wonders if you had players like Del Piero, Totti, Pirlo etc to take advantage.

Hard to do that with average players and be competitive. Spalletti won the scudetto but let’s not forget how good the players on that Napoli team were.

Even Immobile looks like haaland compared to Scamacca

This Euro was supposed to be a tuning and diagnostic exercise for the next World Cup.

Yet we started a R16 knockout game with Darmian at LB, Di Lorenzo at RB, Cristante, and SES.

Heads need to roll. What an embarrassment. Fuck you Gravina. Fuck Inter. Fuck the FIGC.

look at it this way. from this azzurri team, not a single player would start for any of these top 3 clubs in world football:

real madrid
man city
bayern

not a single one. even donnarruma would be bench player.

I bet they also let Scamacca and ElShaarawy win duels, dribble around and score easy goals in training to boost their confidence, Darmian probably looks like prime Zambrotta in training too, it all makes sense now lol

Frankly I think he's better than Courtois though.

Can anyone explain me, how can a trash like cristante playing for national...if italy was smart, they would sacrefice this euro and send young talents to gain experience. In two years there will be world cup.

But its funny how figc get everything that made us, back.

Italy and smart in one sentence right now is funny.
But you're right it wouldn't have been a bad idea to take say even someone like Miretti over Cristante or even a select few from the u21s. Surely a better idea than picking players like Folorunsho who literally had no hope of getting minutes, Buongiorno was a wasted pick considering mancini that fucking liability got selected ahead of him.

Unfortunately today's press conference with spalletti and gravina will just prove how fucking stupid the Italians are, I'm confident they'll continue together towards WC qualification.
