maybe they weren't as sharp mentally? were they assessed in the nt training camp?

i hate inda with a passion but this is ridiculous. very few people in italy take the responsibility and spalletti looks like just an other one of those who prefer to wash their hands. a bit of a disappointment, especially because throughout his career (especially with both roma and napoli) he looked like an attack minded coach with a clear gameplan, and this team looked nothing like expected

who the fuck told spalletti to switch to a 3 man backline in first place, and why spalletti agreed. i bet it wasn't his idea. the last time he played with a back 3 was probably at udine, like 20 years ago
Motherfucker is blaming Simone Inzaghi for his own tactical and technical failures as NT coach

Absolutely extraordinary really.

look at it this way. from this azzurri team, not a single player would start for any of these top 3 clubs in world football:

real madrid
man city
bayern

not a single one. even donnarruma would be bench player.
chiesa might start next season for bayern

donnarumma is a top keeper, i'd take him over all of current real and bayern keepers

bayern cb's aren't that special, calafiori is allegedly wanted by real too

agreed on the rest

watching that game was like watching Allegri ball again. And some want him to take over? LOL. It’s not a question of individual talent (although thats another issue as well.) It’s the same problem, an Italian manager that hasn’t evolved. Just sitting deep and inviting pressure. It’s 2024, that shit does not work anymore. It never worked really, just had elite defenders making it look like it did. Every top side pressures the opponent.

Was that his 14th game? It looked like the first time they had played together. Full of fear and no idea what they were doing.

This current Italy needs a coach who gets the best out of players, another Conte.

I mean he made so many changes in the starting xi, it kinda was their first time together. But they were all sitting back, clearly by design. Conte would work, but his tactics are questionable as well. Like can he adjust when things aren’t going his way? I wish they’d hire some non Italian.

watch a napoli game with spalletti and it's a 100% different gameplay though

he's been an attacking coach throughout his whole career. he didn't just turn into allegri overnight. forget how they played, the issues are much deeper

just a few questions that are not easy to answer: why did he switch to a 3 man backline? why italy played so few preparation matches? what was marotta doing in casa azzurri? how come barella is a beast for inda and a fucking pussy for italy? how come scamacca is by far the most appealing 9 and he's barely better than gatti going berserk in the attacking 3rd? how come gravina is busy making excuses on how much non italians are in the league, bashing clubs for not making efforts in youth development, and at the same time the federation randomly puts juventus, the first club to spend on u23 in girone c alongside teams from the south just to create a logistics nightmare and show a middle finger for the umpteenth time?

changes mostly start from the top. and until that interista piece of shit runs the show it will be the same tragicomedy

U seriously gonna blame marotta mafia for this when Italy had failed to qualify for two back to back world cups and before that exited the group stages in two previous world cups before that when bbc and Buffon were azzzuri players and juve was dominating serie a with Marotta

Was it the juve mafia that caused ass sore eee to exit group stages back in 2014 or not qualify in 2018?

Frankly I think he's better than Courtois though.

my brother donnaruma has entire compilations, not a mistake here and there. entire compilations of mistakes in the past 8 years.

he's not a top keeper just because he can block a shot.

The Azzurri squad is very average to put it mildly. However, success in the younger age groups give us some hope. These young players need to be introduced as soon as possible while still managing to qualify for the World Cup at the same time. That Is key right now.

@Lion pls explain what marotta has to do with the national team

does he have any official title at the federation? why do journalists even ask him, and why it's not a surprise that he's replying?
