Don't tell me people thought this Deschamps-led Mbappe striker France team is actually good after all these years?

- - - Updated - - -

Very sloppy, lack of chemistry, it's clear that most of these players haven't played together very much before. Yet, we've been the best team tonight so far in Paris.

"Keeping it simple" like this would have helped us a lot in the euros.

Well done by the CBs in the first half except for Di Lorenzo who needs to be kept out until Conte sorts out his career.

Very good match by Ricci and Frattesi. Cambiaso is trying to do his thing without chemistry with the team so it doesn't work as well. Encouraging by Retegui, classic striker, serviceable.
Not watching due to work, but Tonali and Udogie are important additions that were missing. Spalletti is still a moron as far as I'm concerned.

Italy winning 3-1 lol. Superb performance against a horrible looking France. Deschamps is on fraud watch.
France seem to not play as a team at all, lots of quality but too many individualities playing for themselves, that lucky early goal should have given them a boost but instead it got Italy determined to come out and play.

Udogie is still not a starter. Tonali is, even if he was the worse of the three midfielders he was still good. I think with match fitness Tonali will cement a place next to Barella, the third midfield spot will be up for grabs then.

The main difference is not those two, it was Spalletti understanding his squad and adapting instead of trying to force ill fitting tactics on short notice.

Italy winning at Monza. Jannik Sinner into the US Open final as #1 seed. Italy beating France in Paris for the first time in 70 years. Excellent week if you ask me!

Is Di Lorenzo Spaletti's son? What a fuck up - I can't believe he's still part of this squad (and actually starting games) after that disastrous Euro performance.

Really impressed with Tonali. Playing like he has something to prove.

Cambiaso played some very intelligent passes.

Time is up for Deschamps IMO. Will be interesting to see how this plays out - FFF should do it now before the 2026 World Cup.

Surprised by the result and performance but the team needed something like this after the mental breakdown at the Euros.

The squad obviously lacks quality but when everyone is available it's still a useful team, it's about them playing together.

That said, I still think early season games are often very random, and internationals just as much.

The difference maker was Tonali! I really feel that Italy has lost its influence in football. How are top players like Tonali not protected from lawsuits or scandals. He lost so many precious time from football and the nation suffered. I mean it’s just gambling.

Take Spain for example. A players like Ramos had never experience more than a two games ban. And this is despite all the articles of him being involved with child molestation and elderly abuse, which his agent (or nation/team) ‘found ways to prove are rumors’

Wow what a win!!! Yes plenty of mistakes both sides but if you told an up and down pitch type game like that, have to think France would prevail. Hopefully continues and we ease our way into WC.

Ricci is great. He was usually captaining the youth teams of Tonali, Frattesi, and co. He always played like a much more mature player. Proper DM.

Overdue that we see him, prefer him over Cristante. He should be Locatelli's competition.

Calafiori is out for tonight's match. Bastoni made it. Rumored that Buongiorno replaces Cala, and Gatti plays over Di Lorenzo.

Kean will play as well.
