Next in line would be Florenzi with 50caps? Man.... Italy really lacking leaders after Gigi, De Rossi, Barza, and Chiellini departure

That's a major concern imo. We didn't give any experience to so many players over the years. Bonaventura has 8 caps at age 28 for example.

Hopefully Mancini will change that. This first squad is at least encouraging.

thats on Conte, he was in the form of his life in the 2 seasons Conte was in charge, Milans best player, but he only played 2-3 times

Conte was a success but he didn't look at the long term picture. For example, Conte didn't value the final qualifying matches after we had qualified. This caused us to be unseeded and gave us a World Cup qualifying group with Spain.

That is my problem with always having a national team manager for 2-4 years absolute maximum. We always have a new guy every couple years and we need someone committed to being in it for the long haul so they will have the future in mind at all times.

National teams are so disorganized nowadays that you really just have to put the best players on the field as Step 1. I don't really see any juggernaught, perfectly drilled, cohesive, national teams anymore. At least since the doped up Spanish teams of 8 years ago.

Mancini is not a good coach but is miles and miles ahead of Ventura simply by including Balotelli and starting Insigne.

Throw in Berna and it looks like a creative and stylish front 3.

Donnafumbla

Caldara - Bonucci - Chiellini

Florenzi - Jorginho - Verratti - Bonaventura

Bernardeschi - Balotelli - Insigne

------------------------

Perin, Rugani, Romagnoli, De Sciglio, Cristante, Pellegrini, Chiesa, Verdi, Immobile, Belotti

Chiellini retired. Defnitely creative enough but lacking grinta and fight, especially with Chiellini and De Rossi gone.

so sad because that team would have qualified for the world cup and done fairly well. I agree there's little grinta and experience there but its a young side, but they will grow together and by the euro and especially the next wc they should be a formidable side if managed properly. Take examples from Germany and Spain and how they managed and keep managing their NTs

on a serious, is Sturaro declining technique wise? he seems worse with the ball each season, and he was supposed to be a "Gatusso with better passing" when he was a youngster at Genoa. does he even work on his game or just chills all the time
