Belotti is probably the most promising Italian striker since...well I can't even remember the last time a truly promising Italian forward came through :D

Maybe Gilardino at Parma

For the first time in a long time I'm optimistic about the national team.
A few players worth noting:
Insigne: Sure Insigne isn't Del Piero, but he is very good. IMO, he is as good as guys like Marco Reus, Douglas Costa, Philippe Coutinho, Christian Eriksen. People always think Giovinco because of the obvious size comparisons. But Insigne is a very different player than Giovince. Insigne is much more of a playmaker, and much more comfortable in a deeper role, while Giovinco is only comfortable if he is playing striker. He is a more intelligent player than Giovinco but dribbles less. Insigne usually averages over 80% pass accuracy , while Giovinco usually averages sub 80%.

Bernardeschi - Very good Winger, awesome workrate, dribbling and left foot.
Belotti - Dream striker: Mandzukic but more clinical.

I'd love to see something in the next tournament like this:

------------------------------Belotti------------------------------
-------------------Insigne-----------Berardi---------------------
Bernardeschi--------Verratti----Gagliardini------------Florenzi
--------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------Romagnoli---Bonucci---Rugani---------------------
-------------------------Donnarumma-----------------------------

Exactly. Mandzukic, but more clinical, more mobile, less aerially dominant.

Top 5 comp. headed goals:
Belotti - 10
Mario Gomez - 6
Sergio Ramos - 6
Icardi - 6
Lukaku - 6
Antonio - 6

less aerially dominant? In front of goal ... NO!

Source is Sqwuaka btw
I was going by aerials won, and aerials attempted. Belotti is much more clinical in front of goal so I'm not surprised he has scored more headers.

But:

Mandzukic:
Aerials Won - 2.9
Aerials Attempted - 4.2
Success Rate - 69% Success

Belotti:
Aerials Won - 2.4
Aerials Attempted - 5.7
Success Rate - 42% Success

But yeah, I completely agree that Belotti is more devastating in front of goal with his head than Mandzukic.

In terms of raw talent Balotelli was incredibly promising. Still is.
Should probably clarify what I mean with truly promising.

There have been a number of players with enough talent at a young age, Balotelli as you say, but also Giovinco or Insigne (the latter of which turned out a decent player anyways).

But Belotti has now a WC season under his belt. And as I'd argue a season that has been better than anything a young-ish Italian striker has put out in ages.

On Insigne, he's quietly having an elite season.
-He is the 24th ranked forward/attacking mid on whoscored, right beside Gareth Bale and Philippe Coutinho.
-He is the #6th ranked player, and #3rd ranked forward on Squawka.

He's put up 14 goals and 7 assists.
If we filter for attacking wingers and goals:
He is
#2 behind Lionel Messi (27) and ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo (13).
For assists he is:
#15th for wingers and trequartistas and #11th for just wingers.

I'd say he is living up to his potential.

Very good. Personally I'd put Bernardeschi in Berardis place and put Spinazzola, Darmian or De Sciglio as the other FB, otherwise its too forward oriented.
