Buffon
Florenzi Rugani, Bonucci De Sciglio;
Verratti, Marchisio Gagliardini
Berardi Belotti Insigne

With everyone fit, I think Italy should strive for a team like above. Pretty decent. Maybe put Bernardeschi in there somewhere.
Florenzi is a big question mark after his back to back injuries this season. Hopefully he recovers well, really likable player and probably the best fullback Italy has if fit.

I disagree, Insigne isn't much of a goal-scorer and someone besides Bellotti has to be able to put the ball into the net regularly, for this reason I'd play Berardi ahead of Bernardeschi, he's more prolific
Well if you would look at the stats then Berardi has scored 2 league goals this season, Bernardeschi has scored 10. And last season Berardi scored 7. He hasnt scored double figures since 2015. Bernardeschi on the other hand is clearly improving and getting better.

Yeah Berardi has to first show he is worthy of call up before talking of benching players who are performing better than him. Both Bernardeschi and Candreva are above him currently.

Bernardeschi while being able to play anywhere, seems to be best on the left. At least depending on what you want from him. Insigne is the one competing with him.

Berardi's main competition is Candreva, who he will definitely bench at the latest after the world cup.

If you want inverted wingers then Bernardeschi can go on the right to shoot more, but you lose his passing range.

I'm not sure, has to be in with a shout at that. I know Brazil and Spain had 35-game unbeaten runs in all competitions. South American teams are at a disadvantage of having to play stronger teams more regularly in qualifying. I'd imagine Australia probably have the record when they played in Oceania (they only had WC qualification and only lost once in 20 years [to NZ]), but that's almost irrelevant really as they had no competition.

Italy have never lost a WC qualifier at home. Unbelievable record really.

The worst mistakes of a defender last night were probably made by Bonucci, if we can hate on Romagnoli then we can hate on our player too.

Good win with tons of new faces. Spinazzola was good, Verratti and Belotti were the best. Donnarumma saved some dangerous shots. Petagna looks really interesting.

Wow. I thought he would test the young guns, but he plays such a crap team :lol:
Donna, Rugani, Romagnoli, Verratti, Gagliardini, Belotti, Petagna, Spinazzola, Zappacosta played.
