The english have won like 5 knockout games in the last 50 years. Their problems go way deeper than current generation of kids being spoilt in their academy.
Of course the weak mentality and arrogance on top of that has been a constant problem for them but it has only gotten worse. If only they had a fraction of the winning mentality we have at Juventus they would probably have done a little better. It would be good for some of their talent to go mature somewhere else rather than stay in England.

Rofl. Bonucci has more technical ability in one of his pubic hairs than the entire England NT.

They just never learn. Constantly belittling and underrating vastly superior teams. It's baffling.
Obviously he's picked this Italy team as it is very workmanlike, but Carragher like so many others here misses the point about how the team handles the football as a group in areas of the field. I watched the Iceland game with my dad, who has watched nearly every game like a nerd, and he said it was shocking how much better the other leading teams are than England with how they manage the football. It's not just about having a nice touch, doing a bit of skill, good shot, cross field pass. Those are basics for an international footballer. You look at players like Rooney, Barkley, Sterling, Kane, Sturridge and all the others and yes, they can play football and generally have sound technique, but they stand out so much more in their club sides because those foreign players they play with know how to manipulate the ball in certain situations across the field.

Off the ball movement, any kind of tactical discipline and cohesiveness are totally lacking when you watch England play. Even Iceland were able to string good passing combinations together even though they are not the most technically gifted team in the tournament.

Time to play Bonnucci as a Regista
Lol that would be insane if conte pulls that. Like a tackling Pirlo XD

Anyways, lets hope sturaro does it well, but i dont see him playing as regista as his pass range is so so. Conte will need a tactical switch.... but his current formation has given him dividends and he is not a man who likes to change his winning formula.

Interested to see what he will do.
