Tavecchio actually did something right for his first official act as president, he called Conte to be NT CT. Lets see where this goes, I would absolutely love Conte as Azzurri coach!

Great????He is the best out of a bad bunch of available Italian coaches, but will he really succeed in a knockout competition? Also,he is mainly a motivator rather than a tactically astute coach and tends to stick with his favorites, even when they are not really firing.Kinda like Prandelli and Montolivo....

I foresee another two years of Italy failing at major tourneys...After that,Ancelloti will become the new coach and hopefully raises the Azzurri's to where they naturally belong...On top of the world

Agreed. I love the man, but I'm not so sure it'll work out too well. We'll just have to wait and hope for the best.

I think his track record speaks for itself. He took us from 7th place to the scudetto overnight. The thing about Conte is that he's winner and that's all that matters to him. The good thing about this is that he's not simply a Manager, he's going to be a coach and will be incharge of all the Azzurri teams, from youth to the big team. Player development will be a key part of his job which is what's killing Italy lately. He will have a much wider role then just coaching the NT once in a blue moon when they have games, he will transform the culture and will bring more of a club team approach rather than simply sitting back most of the year doing nothing like most other national team coaches. All this is a huge step in the right direction for the Azzurri and Italian calcio as a whole IMO.

I think he will have very good career with Italy NT. The only bad thing about this is because he will call a lot of Juve players even in friendly games, that might hurt us!
