It’s reported Antonio Cassano turned on Gigi Buffon and the Italy 'senators’ after their World Cup exit.According to La Repubblica, the Parma man stood with the younger players and pinned the blame on the old guard.
“We only won when you weren’t on the pitch,” Cassano is alleged to have told captain Buffon on the flight home from Brazil.
The goalkeeper was injured for the 2-1 victory against England, as SalvatoreSirigu impressed in his place.
La Repubblica also claims FantAntonio complained that Buffon and Daniele De Rossi “want to make all the decisions.”
It’s reported Buffon threatened to “give Cassano a slap” if he continued his protests.
However, in today’s interview with the Corriere della Sera, Buffon insistedCassano did “nothing out of the ordinary.
“I don’t understand this desire from the media to create controversy.”

Today's footie is more about athleticism than anything else. i think Italy is still at the top on having quality players, but if there is to be change they need to overhaul their training regiment more than anything. i mean they are lately always outrunned, outpaced, outmuscled (including the clubs) when facing other European teams, and nowadays even by the-not-traditionally-physical-teams. Even La liga is explosive compared to Serie A ffs

I think he'll reject being a part time NT coach. We all know he likes to be involved 100% if he does something. At some point he'll surely be the NT coach but it's too early.

As for the NT I think Italy should refresh it a bit. Players that have no chance playing in the next WC shouldn't be called from now on because you won't build a successful side the way Prandelli tried to do - every match a new formation and a new starting 11. Unfortunately it points out at players like Buffon, Pirlo and Barzagli but I don't think they're able to make it to the next WC. They might help with qualifying but later on there will be no players able to take responsibility for the team once they don't get the call.

The next coach will have a big task in hand with regards to him. Looking at how Greece and Colombia played against Uruguay and Costa Rica, Italy surely should have qualified from that group. But not only we cant score goals, we fail to create chances and dominate games.

Who is to blame? The coach or players like Cassano or Balo. Balotelli is a distruptive figure.

prandelli made some mistakes but most people attack him for reliance on mario, while using caludio marchisio in offensive role was huge mistake.

in serie a and cl we saw that marchisio is too weak in doing offensive missions but unfortunately the coach selected him as mario's partner.
besides.,can marchiso play 40 percent of Roben?

The ideal player for Prandelli's formation to play in Marchisio's position (left wing) was El Shaarawy but since he hardly played this season due to injuries, Prandelli had to choose someone else.

I'm sure @Zacheryah agrees.

El Shaarawy's and Rossi's injuries (if Rossi hadn't injured himself he would have made Prandelli's squad for sure) really fucked Italy.

El Sha has been out for sometime, surely Prandelli have not considered him long way before the WC. Plus we never really seen Prandelli played all 3 attackers before, he would have never done that. But Rossi , i agree. Prandelli took a gamble with Balo and Cassano.

This is like the worst guy after Rossi, Moratti and Galliani. :sergio:

Knows shit about Farsopoli. Was quoted saying they can't take "inter's " scudetto away after Palazzi said they were cheating. It was given to them for being honest(no kidding) and now that the Facchetti and cie audio came out they did shit.
