Only Noce, Giac and Bonucci can be considered below standard. Buffon, Chiellini, DDR, Pirlo, Motta, Cassano, Balotelli, Marchisio and Maggio can all play close enough to WC level.

It's not like we traditionally have 11 superstars anyway.

This is a poor Italy side. However, I don't see any other outstanding teams out there, so they might stand a chance. Let's hope their spirit, unity, hunger, determination, and commitment will see them through :D

Thats the thing....I don't sense much in the way of unity compare to say, 2006 - a team which was not exceptional either but had unity in spades. You just don't get that sensation from this bunch of lads under Prandelli.

But hey, this is football and anything can happen.....lets hope for some luck and hope the team performs above their normal technical level.

Far better game from Italy than I had ever expected. Congratulations to De Rossi, Marchisio, Cassano and Maggio who had terrific games. Di Natale was the ass he always is. Should have passed to Cassano, but went for glory and it could have exploded in his face. Horrible guy. Good player, but a horrible, horrible person. Fucked up when trying to make a spectacular second, rather than try and do something that was actually possible.

could and probably should have won it, and easily lost it as well.

Giacchi not working at LWB, and can't play a 4 man defence with Maggio.

decisions, decisions.
