Well a 3-0 defeat is bad, no matter what. But that's also Prandelli's fault and he knows that. He became nervous and kept substituting and rotating. I see it's important that people get to play, but for rotating like this it has been too late. After two losses without a single goal scored a victory would have been important.

Btw, I'll be there:

24 June 2012
21:45 UTC+3
Winner Group D vs Runner-up Group C ----- Olympic Stadium, Kiev
--------------

Hope it won't be a Ukraine-Ireland or Sweden-Ireland quarter final. I'm obviously hoping for Croatia to be the runner up in group C, but I won't complain if it's Spain or Italy and I get to watch England-Spain, France-Italy, England-Italy or a France-Spain match.

If I were Prandelli I would play this: "Italy-Juve"

Buffon
Barzagli Bonucci Chelini
Maggio Marchisio Pirlo Di Rossi Balzaretti
Giovinco Ballotelli

Di Rossi is somewhat equal to Vidal quality-vise.
Maggio, Balzaretti, Giovinco and Ballotelli is defently an upgrade to Licht (He´s a RB), De Ceglie, Vucinic and Boriello/Matri.

Thinking about it.. forget Cavani, Higuain, Asamoah, Ramirez, Suarez.. Lets go ALL Italian this Mercato:-D

The scoreline is really flattering, game wise we had numerous chances.
Lack of finishing - mainly due to Cassano being not really at 100% fitness and match sharp and terrible defense. Buffon and Chiellini is a must for this Italy. Otherwise, Montolivio added nothing to the game and the full backs didn't really impress.

One thing this game clearly showed is how immense Vidal in the 3 man midfield. Vidal physical quality allows him to support the attack and make sure the defense is protected but De Rossi doesn't have the same physical condition. De Rossi needs to be more disciplined in the next game and focus more on defensive and not allowing counter attacks. Secondly, Bonucci is no Chielini. He can't lead the defense like Chielini does.Barzagli is a great defender but he isn't a leader in defense. Buffon is and so does Chielini. We can see than when Buffon is off, the defense was in a mess. Even though the 2nd and 3rd goal is a gift from Maggio, i would rather say it would have been avoided if Buffon is there as surely he would be more authoritive and there won't be a communication problem with him. Lastly, our tournament will be decided by the form Cassano is in.
We can't be seeing these mistakes against the likes of Spain though. I was hoping to be reassured about things with this match, it's just been the opposite though.

This team has had 2 games in 5 months, balotrlli and cassano haven't played together since the 1st game post WC. How can anyone expect them to be any good together? This isn't PES or FIFA, it takes time to learn to play together and learn the system. This NT is a big joke and I don't know how Prandelli could be held responsible if they got embarrassed and go out like in the WC again.

Maggio will be much better if that's the case, along with the fact that Montolivo will be benched. I aslo think that Balzaretti can be very good in the LWB position.

Buffon
Barzagli-Bonucci-Chiellini
Maggio-De Rossi-Pirlo-Marchisio-Balzaretti
Cassano-Balotelli

3-5-2 is perfect. But we have to consider some issues there.
There is almost no bench.

If Maggio or Balzareti gets injured or suspended, then Italy will be left with Abate (who can't cross), and Giacherini (that's not his natural position). Same goes for CBs, Bonucci is not the problem, with or without him Italy won't have any troubles, but If Chiellini or Barza are missing then you will have problems. So i think Italy doens't have depth to play 3-5-2. Midfield and attack is good, just wingbacks and CB could be problem.
