:agree: Nothing else to add.
I would swap Bonucci with Balzaretti and put Chiellini in CB for a change but otherwise I must admit there is nothing else this defensive lineup can look like if we want to win anything.. Abate is solid for Milan why wouldn't he be it for Italy? Maggio proved not to be good for LB - he is a wingback and almost a midfielder, not a defender.

Great game to test the strength of the squad but this was the last test and we've lost the two last games to opponents we should win against. This is embarrassing for Italy, I do believe the squad is good enough to reach Semis though - it just takes the right formation. Some players are not good enough.
Motta, Montolivo, Maggio, De Sanctis, Di Natale, Cassano - they did not deliver!

that guy is so overrate

so olive oil sucked? maggio sucked as rb?
and people are suprised :wth:
I say it on a dutch forum already if italy want to do anything they should play 3-5-2
with this line up
buffon
barzagli-bonucci-chiellini
maggio-marchisio-pirlo-de rossi/nocorinho-balzaretti/giacherini
ballo-di natale

as long they play that lame milan formation. they will suck and kick out in group stage.

First 11 is ok (with Chiellini). After that, you worry.
Gio-same old.
DiNatale- please no more.
DeSanctis-how this guy is no.2 gk is beyond reason.
Motta-good back-up.

And FatAntonio. With his fitness, he'd be better coming off the bench.

----Borini--Balotelli
-------Monto------
Marchisio-Pirlo-DDR
Balz-Chi-Barz-Maggio/Abate

Maggio "I fucked up badly"

Christian Maggio had a hand in two of Russia’s goals and holds his hands up. “That was a really bad night.”

The Napoli defender seemed sluggish and lacked communication with his club and Italy goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis in a 3-0 friendly defeat.

“I’ll be honest, that was a really bad night. I hope it was the last and that it won’t happen again.

“We knew this was an important friendly, as it’s the only one before the Euros, so we wanted to do well. At times we did positive things, at times less so, but we must now work in training to improve.

“We have to understand where we went wrong and try to improve so we don’t repeat those errors. Obviously nobody is happy after a defeat, but that is when we try to bring the best out of ourselves to avoid doing them again.”

The setback comes just over a week before Italy’s opening Euro 2012 match against Spain on June 10.

“Spain are an incredible team, but we already saw that we beat them in Bari and so anything is possible. Obviously we’re not going to do it playing like we did tonight,” added Maggio.

The lead-up to the tournament has been very difficult, as on Monday the Coverciano training ground and Domenico Criscito’s room was subjected to a dawn raid by police investigating the betting scandal.

“Did we feel the pressure of the scandal? Relatively. We took what happened relatively positively and the important thing is that we are now focused on the Euros.”

I don't care if Italy lost 3-0, the goals weren't on Buffon

As long as Italy tops Spain in the group stage it's all good for me.....and shit will get real for Fred :D
