Nesta would be the first name i write on the list if he wasn't retired. Older CB's are never a problem, especially complete defenders like him.
Cassano-Even the great Baggio wasn't allowed to play behind 2 strikers... Can't see lazy/slow Antonio being put there.
Cerci-I hope didn't have a falling out with Prandelli or something because this is completely against his meritocracy BS.

In fact, i'm losing hope with CP. He already made the decision to have a 'complete' anchor (Motta/DeRossi) and it worked against Germany... and now he's going back to Pirlo there. F*k that.

Maggio-Barz-Chiellini-Cassani
---------DeRossi----------
Marchisio-------Pirlo/Monto
Cerci----Balotelli------Rossi/Gio

Cerci is a mediocre winger with good sense for off the ball movement and goal instinct, but he is nothing special. Prandelli doesnt like him, I dont blame him, even if he is in a hot streak.

ahhhhhhh this sucks! I was so looking forward to seeing Balotelli in action... Oh well...
Prandelli should call up Miccoli, I don't know why he's always overlooked, I for one think he's better than Cassano and Rossi together and should be given a chance. He has the pace, shot and ability to win a game by himself, something that all our other attackers lack. I guess the neck tatoo of the kiss excludes him from any consideration?? LOL

This. For Italy to play with a winger (or wingers) they have to be better than what is currently available to Prandelli.

No Matri ??!
Fu*k this .
He should be ahead of Osvaldo IMO, but there are enough Juve players, perhaps too many if you consider it isn't a must win game.

I would rather see Matri instead of Osvaldo, but these games are pretty meaningless after-all. I thought he personally should have called both of them, with Pazzini and Balotelli out, plus Rossi still questionable you'd think he'd want more in attack than just Giovinco, Cassano, Osvaldo.

Maldini blasts Osvaldo call
Former Italy Coach Cesare Maldini demands Cesare Prandelli explain why he called Pablo Daniel Osvaldo rather than Alessandro Matri.

The Azzurri boss brought in Osvaldo for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Serbia and Northern Ireland after Giampaolo Pazzini and Mario Balotelli pulled out.

“Prandelli should certainly be asked for the reasons that pushed him to call up Osvaldo and not Matri,” Maldini told Calciomercato.it.

“I think he called the former Espanyol striker in an emergency situation. I ask myself how a forward like Osvaldo, after only a few games with Roma and a brief spell in Italy with Bologna and Fiorentina, can so easily earn the Azzurri jersey.

“In any case, Prandelli’s position towards foreigners had already become clear when he called up Thiago Motta.”

Although Osvaldo was born in Argentina, he played for Italy at Under-21 level and is of mixed heritage.
