When it comes to Rossi it's slightly different since Rossi had been at Parma since he was twelve or thirtheen years old. He has an Italian name and heck I think he even grew up in an Italian(-American) atmospshere. When we come to Motta it isn't the same, he didn't spend his youth career in Italy but in Spain. He has been what two or three years in Italy, has he spend his youth career with an Italian team? If I look it from a football perspective, I can understand Rossi's desire more since he spend his youth years in Italy, Motta just came to Italy after Barca dumped him and Brazil doesn't have any desire to call him up.

I've got no problem with Rossi, but for Thiago he can bagger off along with Ledesma.

If you look at it from a football perspective it's more than ok if you play for the NT where you had enjoyed your youth career at. When we look at Motta the it isn't a very similair case since he was at Barca, went to Atletico and when he was in his middle 20's he went to Genoa, I get your point but the situation is different.

I'm not the hypocrite here, though. You lot are. No matter where a person is born, no matter their last name, no matter their skin color, as long as they have citizenship they are OK with me. We don't discriminate.

This seems to be clutching at straws. If you're going to make the argument that someone should play for the country where they played club football and was taught the pro game, what's to say Rossi didn't learn the most while at United? Should he play for England now?

This discussion can be endless since it's based on feelings but I think Rossi has a more more grounded reason to play for the NT than Motta. Again, it's based on my feelings towards this dilemma.

Well, with regard to youth system, Rossi did play in Olympic Development programs in the States as a child. So technically, his development started here.
