Indeed it is. Its the way Uefa has done things whenever NTs fans create huge ruckus, punish them with 3-0 auto result.

I know Serb fans who expected way bigger punishment then 2 games ban, so in that sense its not worst scenario by any means, considering Serbian footballs track record in similar stuff.

IMO thats the least they could have done. I'm not happy about it, because i dislike the Italian NT, but lets be honest here, replaying the game would not be completely fair for Italy.

So the next time Italy fails to contain fan violence they will be slapped with a simple light fine. That's cute, if they can't handle little qualifying games it's good they didn't get the right to host the 2016 euros.

How come Belgium wasn't banned from European competitions along with the English for Heysel then?

Sure Italian police might not be the best out there, but Serbia still has to answer for the actions of its fans, its only fair.

How would i know, i was in diapers back then.

Point is, you have a responsibility to protect those in & around the stadium.Italian officials were grossly unprepared & when hosting an international event one should be prepared for a worst case scenario.

That being said, if they can't stop a bunch of football hooligans sneaking into the country, what could a possible terrorist achieve?

This is not the first time Italian officials & police have failed the public, how many times have club games been interrupted & hooligans doing as they please.

Italy will have to play a game behind closed doors if there is any more trouble in the next wee while, I think.

Different attitude to hooliganism back then.

Obviously, it wasn't deemed acceptable, but the authorities weren't as tough back then.

And did Belgium have any previous? England, Serbia and Italy are all known for having trouble with hooliganism.

@Byrone, I agree with you that Italian police aren't exactly the best and most organized out there, and i'd agree that Italy should not be a prime candidate for hosting an international event, at least not yet, till they get their act together. Still, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind, that Serbia should take most of the blame, and consequently be punished for their fans actions. I think UEFA took the right course of action here.

What does 1 with condition mean btw? Specifically.
translate this :p

La sospensione condizionale della pena di giocare una partita a porte chiuse vale sia per la Serbia sia per l'Italia due anni: diventerà cioè effettiva se nell'arco di questo periodo si ripeteranno episodi di violenza.

What a joke, honestly.

Sure i never said Serbia didn't deserve the bulk of the punishment but if what Andrew said is true, that's pathetic punishment.

It was on their soil, not Serbian soil. The FIGC, stadium management & Italian police failed to do their job. They should have been given a serious ban & not a simple slap on the wrist.

So if, lets say, some English fans cause trouble in an away game and force the authorities to postpone the game, the other team's stadium must be banned from next games? Ridiculous.

You need some courses in winding up Hoori :D

This would have been more appropriate:

"Serbian fans :seven:"
But I don't plan to make fun of them :D

They helped us bag the whole points even without playing the game. Much love

Nice kick in the nuts, huh Dusan?
Well not really because it was expected.

If we screw it up again we're doomed :D
