They really do remind me of Juve. The slow build up play, playing down the wing while not having a winger. No venom up front, lack of creativity in the middle. Shaky defence.

The main difference being an absolutely world class top level goalkeeper
And just 5 months ago they were the most attractive playing team in Europe.

Mancini must realize it is time to push the next generation through. He won the Euros, this is not club football, he has a new 5 year contract and all the job security he can seek.

Zaniolo, Kean, Rovella, Tonali, Calabria, Calafiori, Lovato, Vignato etc must be starting or in the squad every game. Immobile, Belotti, Berardi, Insigne, Berna, Cristante, Jorginho, Acerbi etc have no future.
You can't drop the future ballon d or winner and mancini has overachieved with this squad time for Chiesa Insigne and Jorginho to be held accountable for their performances

It’s bizarre. Although Italy did start to look very average when they lost Spina and the left side became a complete void (similar to ours). I think the adrenaline and team spirit got them through the Euros.

This Italy since though has looked like a different team. Lost all its intensity and plays with no technical ability at all. That was one of the worst performances I’ve seen from an Italy team in years. NI are without doubt a solid workmanlike team but you have to be winning those kind of games if you’re a supposed top team

Will they have to play Portugal or is there a drawing?
They might play against Portugal, but certainly not in the first play-off match.
The playoffs are played in 3 groups (A, B, and C). Each group will have two seeded and two unseeded teams. Portugal and Italy are both seeded and they might find themselves in the same group, but they could face eachother only in the group's final. In the group's semifinal, a seeded team will play against an unseeded team and the winner goes to the group's final against the winner of the other encounter in the same group.

Italy's potential opponents in the semifinal are: Austria, Czech Republic and/or Wales, Macedonia, Finland/Ukraine, Turkey/Norway, possibly Poland, and maybe even Sweden. The Italians will play the 1 leg semifinal at home. If they make the final, which is gonna be 1 leg too, they might play at home or away, depending on the draw.
