Remember when MDS, Santon and Andrea Conti were all the next 80 cap players? Seems to be a real problem position, maybe not just for the Azzurri though.
Santon, damn... he fell off hard. He was probably the highest rated of all. MDS still had quite a bit of success.

Conti looked good before all the injuries.

I'm not sure what the problem is with fullbacks these days. Imo it's one of the easiest positions to play, once you have decent speed and stamina.

Tbh the spot is there for Calabria to make his own. Florenzi is the most talented player but he also has not been the same since the injuries.

I'm curious what our Prince has in store. Certainly can't be worse than last 2 coaches no?
Probably, but expected he'd call up more young players than previous two. Sadly, managers ain't problem apparently since it's not in their hands who plays and who doesn't, but hopefully something changes with the new manager finally.

Back when Pape was in charge I used to follow the NT extensively, I followed like 50 of our players and always wondered why this or that guy is not called. Nowadays I care much less, he could have called Spahic out of retirement and I'd be like meh, whatever. I guess too much disappointment over the years took a toll on me. But I'm giving Dusan a chance, he's a legend after all. I think he can light the fire in the team again

Who was the last decent fullback to play for the Azzurri? The best I can think of since 06 are Abate and Florenzi :/
The RB spot is covered with Di Lorenzo. This list is inflated to try players after covid, of the 3 RBs Florenzi is the worst. As good a player as he is, he is really not a natural RB. Di Lorenzo is very good, D'Ambrosio is fine, Florenzi should fall off in a more final list.

The LBs ideally should be headed by Spinazzola but his injuries prevent relying on him being on form at the right times. Biraghi is just a runner, a player for the level of Fiorentina. Luca P looks good but he is too young to be the main man at this point.

Calling up two Sassuolo players, Locatelli and Caputo, and excluding Berardi? To call up Kean and El Shaarawy after the season we have seen?

Hard to think of the reason for that one

Is Berardi injured? Strange not to see him called up.

Going to be interesting to see Giorgio back starting in such a tense game, would've preferred them to take it easy by starting him in the game with Bosnia but we all know already what happened there so hopefully there won't be any issues tonight, but in some ways i understand why he would be more needed tonight, also will be great to see him back at a high level, could tell us a bit of what to expect further.

Keeping my fingers crossed he finishes the game on both feet and with a moral boost to go with it. Forza Azzuri!
