Obviously "Ace" Ventura is gone. Looked a questionable appointment from the start, turned into an absolute farce for various reasons, but his ineptitude perpetuated the difficulties. Particularly loved the part where he brought on two wingers for two wing backs with Italy causing problems in wide areas for their most dangerous attacks. Then they started pumping the ball down the middle for tree defenders to head the ball away. That was a bit special. I don't think the team has any clue what the guy wants, but look at the random selection. He's just throwing any old shit out there.
The toad Tavecchio needs to do the honourable thing and step down but he's the kind of leech you get in Italy who worm their way into high positions and then they are stuck like a limpet. At least stop appointing duds as coach of your national team. Ventura turned into an orange late-career Sven-Goran Eriksson. He might be a good mid-table club coach given a couple of seasons. I saw nothing from a motivational or tactical aspect from most of his tenure to suggest there was anything positive from the choice the FIGC made.
The only over 30s who should be in the Nazionale after this debacle are Bonucci and Chiellini, and tbh their places should be evenly contested with other players. There is a good bunch of younger players and it's time they get blooded, the tournament was a final stop off point before that anyway. That they robbed Gigi of his final tournament and caps just adds to the disgrace.
BTW this isn't a generation of players, it's a mash up of the old generation, their subs, and some new guys. You can't tell me that someone brave and with ideas can't make something out of the group of U25 players Italy have to choose from. A lot of the forwards in and around the squad have been on fire this season. Insigne didn't even get a look in, lol.
