He was suspended because Wasyl was unlucky enough to break his leg. But if a guy like Wasyl, with the reputation he has, comes sliding in like that, any player will defend himself the way Witsel did.

It was very unfortunate for Wasyl and you wouldn't wish it on anyone, but Witsel didn't deserve the shitstorm that came after it.

The only reason he breaks his leg is the intensity of his own tackle. All the force and movement is coming from Wasyl himself. It's simple physics.
Yea
In that You Are right
But witsel "defendíng " is almost an mma kick

Still... That does not make him a bad player

Just look at the footage. Same thing with that dude breaking his leg against Nainggolan two seasons ago. You're noy automatically right, just because you break your leg.

People really should try to seperate actions from results.
If he really wanted to defend himself, he could have simply jumped instead of facing Wasyl's movement with his studs. There was the intention to hurt the guy and he knew exactly what he was doing. Stop with the bullshit.

It's definitely a foul from Witsel and something that should be punished. But Wasilewski had been butchering players left and right for years at that point and now he was, once again, coming in with a crazy tackle. I kind of understand Witsel trying to protect his own legs first.

Well. Most of the movement was coming from him and he broke his leg. It was a stupid challenge. As evidenced by the result.
He did absolutely nothing wrong. You can't show your studs against such movement if you're not fucked in the head.

So the player aiming for the ball is at fault, while the MMA-style kicking dude with the studs aimed at the leg of opposite player is just protecting himself. That's some biased shit  Must be a Standard fan
