I'm not a fan but for a relatively small price he's an upgrade to Hernanes for sure. The latter is simply a ticking bomb in front of our defence. Witsel at least can distribute the ball and hopefully won't be giving gifts to opposition. Then Marchisio returns :xfinger:

Let's face it, Witsel is a solid, if unspectacular Midfielder. As @Seven says. Does he improve our strongest starting XI? Not at all.

But we don't need to improve on Khedira-Marchisio-Pjanic.

We need to improve the rotation options so it's not such a ridiculous drop-off to relying on the likes of Hernanes - Sturaro - Pereyra of last year. And Witsel certainly does that.

Having a Khedira-Marchisio-Pjanic starting 3 from October onwards, with Witsel, Asamoah, Lemina as first 3 off the bench is pretty fucking good. And people need to stop being such bitches.

The problem is not so much 'improving' the midfield, but there are too many uncertainties with each of them, will Khedira stay fit/injury free for the majority of the season? How quickly can Marchisio recover without a potential relapse? How will Pjanic perform?
