The new ownership's injection of cash allows Milan to pursue Zenit St Petersburg's Axel Witsel, plus Chelsea's Juan Cuadrado and Diego Costa.

The Rossoneri have been paralysed on the market for weeks as they awaited the sale of the club to a Chinese conglomerate. With the latter operation now concluded, joint-CEO Adriano Galliani can count on €15m immediately and another €85m within the next 35 days, which will be reinvested on the market.

According to Calciomercato.it, the new liquidity will allow the Diavolo to chase after some ambitious targets. The foremost among these is Zenit St Petersburg's Witsel, who is currently being targeted by Juventus.

The Belgian midfielder has been linked to a variety of Italian clubs, including Roma and Napoli, and is open to the idea of a move. However, no party has been able to present a satisfying economic deal so far, leaving Milan an open door to operate.

The Italians are also believed to be aiming for Juan Cuadrado and Diego Costa, neither of which top the priorities list for Chelsea Coach Antonio Conte.

In addition, the influx of cash should allow Galliani to finally close the deal for one of his established targets, Villareal's Musacchio.

money is not a thing that milan has an upper hand on us. So why would anyone go to milan instead of us? The olny reason can be that we didnt want that player.

They are never going to get anywhere with Galliani. He has too much pride to try and copy Juve's model so he will just spend all this money on late 20s players. Can't wait to see them fail :lol2:

i'm not dissing his technical ability. Thats a nice average. I'm dissing purely his mentality. And without that mentality, his technical ability alone isnt good enough for juve.

Other serie a teams could consider
The only problem I see mentalitywise is that he's too docile. If Wilmots tells him to stay put, he does so even if it's to the detriment of the team. With a coach like Allegri that might work to his benefit though.

Oh but Wilmots is an idiot. Now the entire world thinks that Witsel is a holding mid while he's terrible at it.

He's an offensive focussed CM. In fact, he demands a similar treatment as pogba. He wont work too hard defensively (but at least pogby has dat physical presence in headers and receiving the ball), but he likes his teammates to carry the team, so he can move around in interesting places.

In case of Pogba, he'll appear and try stuff. In case of Witsel, he'll infiltrate the box

To be fair we are talking about a guy who decided to play in Russia and Milan gives him a chance to be part of a "good" project while getting playing time and being a key part of the team. On the other hand I would see it difficult for him tp be a regular in big matches here but we have an abvious attraction because we are a good team. Its not out of the realm of speculation for him to choose Milan though

Just remember he would be replacing a guy at the top of his game that went to Manchester to play in the europa league when he was the top dog of our team. Fans and players think differently some times

the new ownership will not effect much in their mercato, remember the ffp rules and milan recorded around 100m dept this year, they will do the same business as inter till they improve results and revenues.

inter get sold before milan so where is the mountains of money in their mercato till now?!

Exactly. Which means it's understandable we're looking at him as a Pogba replacement. The only issue I have with him is that I doubt he's good enough. But there's not much better on the market tbh.
