Can't believe some blame Beppe for this :lol2:

I agree with them. He had the whole summer to do this but waited until all his other options were exhausted. Zenit doesn't owe us anything and if they were notified last mins then they have every right to look for a replacement. Zenit might not be the biggest team to us but they owe it to their fans to field a competitive team.

What? They did nothing but play act. You can't blame Marotta for waiting for a signature on a deal, which already was agreed upon. The whole "he had the entire summer" is a stupid argument, which has nothing to do with this case.

Oh, and it's also stupid asuming he wasn't looking for a midfielder. Especially since Matuidi himself said that he wanted to come here. People here always set up a false dichotomy. In Marotta's case, it's between a panick buy or not looking enough.

but that's what i am saying. Marotta had others ahead of Witsel and when all those other options didn't pan out he went for Witsel. Witsel himself said he was going to stay at Zenit for the year so the team was expecting him to so they didn't go out to find a replacement. You can't give a team 1-2 days to make a decision on their best player without giving them a chance to replace him.

You're not making sense. He was in Turin and had his medical. Zenit only did it to punish the player.

Boss criticises Juventus for acting too slow after selling Paul Pogba to Manchester United.

“Zenit are an ambitious club too with many fans, so we can’t sell a big star without signing a replacement.
PSG and zenit did do a great job about their key players and keeping their players until find a replacement for them!!
If Marotta really wanted a replacement for pogba should have bought a good MF weeks ago.
Draxler saga in last year!! it was a repeat mistake and was complete waste of time.

when We had Pogba, needed a CM.we sold pogba and sould have bought two good players to fill that hole and whatever else is needed. It’s just showing Pogba sale seem even more unplanned.

Fact of the matter is we had all summer to find a replace with a lot of money at our disposal and we failed to do it. Some great transfers make up for it but the fact we failed to do it still has to be slightly worrying.

It still has nothing to do with this transfer.

Well, there's the fact Pogba is kind of a cm and Witsel is kind of a cm too. I can see why people think it's related. Not my personal opinion though. We were interested in Witsel even way before Pogba's sale.

Btw for people still going on about this, it sucks that we lost out on Witsel, but let's be honest here: he would have been an extra addition to our midfield and we were hoping he'd turn out great. Hardly one of the building stones of our squad.

Well the thing is we had to sell Hernanes to be able to register Witsel. So rather than linking him to the Pogba sale, we can link him to the fearsome Brazilian and our past injury woes.

Our midfield goes from really good (Pjanic-Khedira-Marchisio) to good with lots of potential (Asamoah-Lemina) to OMFG I hope we never have to start these guys (Sturaro, Hernanes). I'd be tempted to switch formation if/when injuries kick in, just so that we never have to start the likes of Hernanes and Sturaro, unless it's a meaningless cup game or a game against some Serie A cellar dweller/cannon fodder type opposition.
