Did you watch the game ?
Look, Hiddink coaches PSV. The fact he went to Australia to sit on the bench doesn't mean he transformed Australia into some kind of superteam. HE DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING to be correct.

WTF did Hiddink do? Australia were always as good as Uruguay and they won on penalties. Mind you the goalie Hiddink wanted didn't even come on. So tell me, WHAT did Hiddink do?
Australia is in sheer quality not as good as Uruguay imo; so leveling the playing field by motivation, input and tactics is Hiddink's input in all of this.

Don't you think that might be due to those thousands of fans cheering for Australia? I hardly believe Hiddink managed to make Australia a better team in 4 days. And they still only won on penalty kicks, they hardly walked over Uruguay.

wtf!! come on now, they played two games against the fifth ranked team in south america, only to win it in pk's how's that an accomplishment?
At any rate, congrats aussies

you obviously dont know about football in australia, and why would you, we are on the other side of the world and you are stuck in your world.'

Football or soccer as they used to stupidly call it here has never really taken off because of big business, racist median etc etc etc .

By the ozzies making it to the cup it lifts the profile of the sport and hopefully gives it a big push in the right direction.

There is a very large multinational community in this country and if managed properly, football can take it place as the number one sport, whrere it should be!!

So before you make those statements please educate yourself.

As as far as the game goes, uruguay didnt even show up!!! australia deserved to win.

the players on the field won the game, but hiddink had something to do with it as well and his changes in the game also impressed me.

i was actually talkin about America which he deleted in his edit. As far as them deserving to beat uruguay i really dont care fact is they're the only team to qualify on only two games and against the fifth ranked team in south america.

Andries, if coaches would not have any sort of impact over 3 months/4 weeks then they would never be fired if a team under-performes. I'm not saying it's all Hiddink; but he must've had some sort of positive influence that cannot be denied as far as I'm concerned. Regarding the Dutch media shouting "HIDDINK DID IT AGAIN"; that's the media. The only function of a title is to catch attention and boringly dressed stories don't get you a public. I admit the NOS is a fan of overdoing these things but to say that Hiddink didn't do anything is going to the opposite extreme; which is just as inaccurate as far as I'm concerned.

I deleted it because upon reading it back I noticed it sounded demeaning, patronising, which I didn't intent; I wanted to point out a similarity/seemingly new trend of the Anglican world becoming part of football more and more
