Marcello Lippi tells his men there is no time to dither as we enter the toughest months of the season.
“So far we have occasionally been forced into some changes due to injuries, and some points have been lost, but that is in the past. Four intense months await us and we are ready.”
For several weeks Lippi has claimed that their main objective over January was to recover their injured stars and reach their peak for the last push in Serie A and Europe.
“The top of the table is very close now,” noted the tactician, “with four teams within the space of three points, including the wild card Lazio.”
The Bianconeri must face a tricky trip to on-form Atalanta, who have notched up two consecutive victories against Roma and Modena.
“Atalanta are doing well right now and have Fabio Rossini back to full fitness. We will respect them, just as they are sure to respect us.”
We should see the same squad that beat Piacenza 2-0 last Sunday,
although Pavel Nedved is in doubt with a throat infection.
Lippi’s own future is hitting the headlines recently with news that his contract is likely to be extended.
“We have the basis of an agreement,” revealed the ex-Inter boss. “There is no rush to put pen to paper.”
The reports suggest that the one detail remaining is the length of the new contract awaiting a potential call from the Azzurri.
