BACKGROUND
This is not the best of times to be facing Atalanta following their back-to-back wins against AS Roma and Modena.
Confidence must be higher than at almost any point this season. Significantly, playmaker Cristiano Doni looks to have shrugged off whichever hangover he was suffering from, and is starting to look like the player that wowed so many Serie A crowds last season.
The situation now looks far healthier for the Orobici who are only three points behind last weekend's opponents Modena. Admittedly they were fortunate to come up against a side so lacking in form, but the club's fans may claim their side deserve a little luck.
Juventus appear to be clicking into gear once again, and all talk of a crisis has been well and truly shelved by now. They were knocked out of the Coppa Italia at the hands of Perugia last week, but that competition was never high on coach Marcello Lippi's list of priorities.
The Bianconeri are right back in contention for Serie A and after four straight wins they are just a point behind the two Milan clubs.
A win last week always looked inevitable at home to Piacenza. The team were always going to be determined to remember honorary president Gianni Agnelli who so tragically died on the Friday. And they duly did, with a goal of the finest technique from Alex Del Piero –nicknamed Pinturicchio by Agnelli because he compared him with an artist- and a coolly taken second by Pavel Nedved.
Lippi said after the match that he hoped the players would be in peak form for the resumption of their Champions League campaign in two-and-a-half weeks time. Now that injuries have subsided, and key players are performing regularly, they show all the signs of doing just that.
FORM GUIDE
Atalanta: Last Six Matches: LDDDWW
Results wise, the Orobici have steadily improved. A narrow defeat at Inter (Giovanni Vavasori's men gave the hosts some scares), was followed by three draws against Empoli, Torino and Como. They have now won two on the trot – the controversial 2-1 victory over ten-man Roma, and last week's triumph over Modena.
Juventus: Last Six Matches: WWLWLW
The only two recent defeats arrived in the Coppa Italia at the hands of Perugia. In the league, however, the Bianconeri have won their last four, beating Perugia (1-0), Reggina (5-0), Chievo (4-1) and Piacenza (2-1).

Atalanta: Pia has been ruled out for a month with a thigh strain, so won't play. Rossini could start, but Comandini is not 100% fit and is unlikely to feature.
Juventus: Lippi has a fully-fit squad of players to choose from for this match. The productive front three of Nedved, Trezeguet and Del Piero will continue in attack.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Cristiano Doni (Atalanta): the Italian international is re-finding his form after an indifferent first half
of the season.
David Trezeguet (Juventus): the Frenchman didn't score last week, so he is about due for a goal this weekend! The former Monaco man rarely goes long in a Juve shirt without scoring, and with Del Piero and Nedved, supplying the bullets, he is sure to have chances in Bergamo.
