Nobody on this forum hates Bayern more than me but FFS
In 60 years of football we won the CL twice
They won 5x
They been winning CL three times in a row while we were being eliminated by Gladbach

None of us actually know what the CL was like in the 50s, but Serie A from the mid 80s til the early 00s is easily the best/strongest league I've ever seen, and I don't think we'll ever see a league as amazingly strong and competitive like it again.
I know and don't even doubt that 90s Serie A might even have been the toughest league to win in the history of football. But it's just league titles and they don't provide any worldwide recognition.
Just like CL is harder than WC and yet WC is much more prestigious

every competition got its nemesis

It was a farce, at least in Scotland.

Aberdeen won the league in 1955, which should have qualified them for the first European Cup.

But the Scottish FA insisted that their committee should vote on which club should represent Scotland.

The Chairman of the SFA was also the chairman of Hibs and, wouldn't you know it, the SFA voted Hibs into the European Cup.

Greatest injustice in the history of the world.

I've refused to take the European Cup/Champions League seriously ever since.

:D

Ah well, look where Hibs are these days. Useless little mini-Celtic.

But you can make an argument to say (especially in the 80s and 90s) that it was a lot harder to win a league like Serie A than it was to win the CL. And "European Cup" before the CL era started, had nowhere near as much prestige as it does now.

And even with all of their CL wins, I'd say we'd have a similar (if not bigger) worldwide following with Bayern.

Let's just agree that Juventus is bigger than Barcelona as a club. Take their Messi era away and they got basically nothing to show
