@Red what do you make of this? Who would you target now?
Not sure quite what to make of it all yet. I'd need to know details such as whether it was Juve or Vidal who really instigated this transfer.
My first thought would have been to hold on to Vidal at (almost) any cost because of the assumption that Pogba won't hang around long term. That would change if Vidal's prospects of remianing in good physical condition were not thought to be good.
But clubs go though cycles and many teams make the mistake of not renewing at the right time and failing to cash in on players when their value was highest - just look at how Inter fucked up after their tripletta by not selling guys like Milito and Maicon when they should have. Vidal is obviously younger than those guys, but there is the question over his physical condition.
Without knowing more about what is going on and what Juve will do with the cash, it's hard to say whether this is the right thing to do.
I can certainly fully understand why - aside from any emotional attachment to Vidal - people are deeply uncomfortable with the prospect of losing another key play after Tevez left.
Moving from Vidal to Khedera changes the sort of trequartista I'd be open to. With Vidal I would have been reluctant to sign someone who wouldn't do a lot of work in addition to being creative (Ocar, for instance) because I wouldn't have wanted to hold Vidal to a more defensive role. I have no issue with holding Khedira back, so I'd have less of an issue with signing someone who'll just be productive in the final third and not do much else (Mata, for instance).
