Vidal given driving ban

Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has been given a two-year driving ban following a crash while on Chile duty.

The 28-year-old crashed his Ferrari while driving under the influence after a night in a casino, and did not contest the charge today.

Nobody was seriously hurt in the crash, so Vidal has been fined and banned from driving for two years, but will not face a full-trial or jail time.

The player has already expressed his remorse for the incident, and will have to sign in at the Chilean consulate in Milan once a month.

What's with the reporting to the embassy in Milan once every month?
I think in most situations people who have criminal proceedings underway they are not allowed to leave the country but given his situation working abroad he is being trusted to leave but has to check in with his country officials. Its not like he is much of a risk to disappear but I think it is a show of faith on both sides to allow him to go back to Italy but he has to let them know he is around and communicating with them.
