I think, or hope, that the point is, if we do sell Vidal, it would be really pathetic if we don't sign a player of that Falcao/Di Maria/(insert super talented 35-50m player here) calibre. It would really show a lack of ambition if we didn't make a big splash on the transfer market after selling our best player and second most valuable asset for 50-60m.
I'd hope we would sign a player in the 40ish mil range, and then a couple 10mil area young players with potential if we sold Vidal. Ideally, of course, we don't sell Vidal. It looks less and less likely with each passing day. He makes this side tick. 2 more years here and he could easily cement himself as a club legend, with another scudetto or two and a deep run in the CL.
