Still its not bad to have a poll consisting of CM's who have different roles. There are players who play pretty much in similar positions as Vidal(ex : Modric) but their roles are different.

In his 'role' ,Vidal is the best but in his position ? Its debatable.
Position is central mid. There are tons of good central midfielders.

Role is box-to-box. Criteria is you run the pitch dry by participating defensively and offensively.

Id even say Sergio Busquets would be more appropriate in the goal.com vote instead of Iniesta (CAM / LW)

Why should Iniesta be excluded from the discussion though ? Barca's setup is different who play a DM flanked by creative CM's with Iniesta occupying one of the slots.

We on the other hand play a DLP flanked by pure b2b midfielders.Technically its correct to include Iniesta.Because this is not a poll describing specific roles of the player.

And Iniesta doesnt play LW anymore btw.

Totti said worse, He's openly stated that if he had gone to Madrid he would have won Ballon d'ors.

Sure, some people are humble. Some are confident. If the end result is that they can back up their claims then that's fine by me.

You say we don't need to blow this out of proportion, well then the best thing to do would be absolutely nothing.

If we ask Vidal to retract his statement. What kind of message does that send to him? That we don't think he's as good as he does, or that we're a club with a provincial underdog attitude

Meanwhile, managers of other star players constantly big them up in the media. It sure as hell hasn't stopped Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra & pretty much every Bayern player from carrying on as they do. There is no one correct way of doing thing. And personally i'll be pissed if we try to destroy the confidence of our best player. Because of some sort of weird inferiority complex at the club.
Again, this has nothing to do with confidence or having an inferiority complex. It's plain and simple humility, that is an attribute, every great player needs to possess. When I say we shouldn't make a big deal out of it, I mean that we don't need to talk to the player or disregard his views through the press. It can be clarified internally. It's not even about retracting a statement, it may just be about clarifying what was perhaps said out of context.

Managers can always play up their stars, there's nothing wrong with that. If Conte said it, I wouldn't think it's a big deal, but the player saying it kind of leaves a bad taste, especially a player just stepping out on the path to greatness as Vidal currently is.

I just don't agree with that attitude. I'd expect an Inter player to talk like this actually. Strange.

Man Utd fans thinks they are gonna land Mata & Vidal. :lol2:
 Kind of like some fans who thought they'd get Mata on loan with option to buy at 25m.

Yaya Toure is on Vidal's level imo, those two are the best at what they do, then theres obviously Iniesta, Silva, Pirlo, Schweinsteiger etc but those 2 stand out the most
Yaya Toure is more the finished article, and for me a better player than Vidal currently. Though, it's only a matter of time before Vidal displaces him and he begins to decline.

Modric  he has been an absolute monster this season,
Modric would've been unbelievable at this Juve.

a creative midfielder that doesn't defend well is exactly what i call a central attacking midfielder. On paper barca plays 433/whatever but looking into defending abilities/duties Iniesta is not the same kind of player. im not downgrading Uefalona or anything, i simply point out the fact that even if it looks like a CM, Iniesta by all means play CAM. What Vidal commented btw, was that he is the best box-to-box midfielder.

Have you seen the kind of form Yaya is in this season ? He's lazy defensively but he's been dominating the PL this year.

Right now, ofcourse he is the best, but there are a lot of quality midfielders vying for that position ,that the difference isnt really much.

Also being 'complete' doesnt always necessarily mean the best.
I don't mean past it as in crap, but just past his best imo. I didn't say he isn't good.

and that's the point. Vidal does it all like no one else.

Manchester United make enquiry into signing Juventus star Arturo Vidal

Manchester United have made an enquiry into Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal as David Moyes continues his hunt for a new central midfielder. Moyes has been given the green light to add to his squad this month, with the club facing a real battle to qualify for the Champions League next season.
And while a deal to sign Juan Mata from Chelsea is ongoing, United are not stopping there, with the club making a move for Vidal. Reports in Italy claim they have asked Juve to name their price for the midfield dynamo, who is allegedly unsettled in Turin.

It’s not clear whether he would be interested in a transfer, or whether Juve would sell, but United are keen to do business. Vidal is rated at around £15million, and has been a long-term target for United scouts, who have tracked his progress for years. United would be prepared to wait until the summer to sign Vidal if they could not agree terms during this transfer window.

Vidal is the best b2b mid out there for me, and fans of other clubs I talk to don't have any problem saying that either, I don't even feel bias when I say it. He just is.
