I think he cries a bit because of shame. That's good he is ashamed of such thing.
True dat. On the one hand, a player can feel above the law when he's the leading scorer for his national team in an international tournament they're hosting, he owns/drives a Ferrari, and he parties too much so that he gets stupid.

What's redeemable is recognizing you are human, that you are fallible, that people could have been hurt and killed from your impetuous acts, and that humility goes a long way. He should feel ashamed, and it's a healthy thing that he does. I'm good with players that own up to their mistakes.

It's a costly lesson, and hopefully he learns from it -- as it could have been much more costly.

Oddly, if he's learned something, this is an opportunity for the club and fans to stand by him ... while not excusing him for what he did. That could go a long way towards both his loyalty and in helping him make better decisions.

Selling him for something like this would be foolish unless he starts to show a pattern of poor judgment going forward.

That's the problem. Some people blur those lines, and don't or simply won't differentiate between the two

the fact is Vidal didn't kill or harm anyone! if he did then that is a an entirely different argument all together!
Wait a minute.

No it's not.

The only reason why there wasn't more of an opportunity to cause irreparable damage is because he nearly drove into a fucking ditch. The fact of the matter is that he got behind the wheel of a high speed vehicle while being under the influence. That alone, in the condition that he was in, has him in possession of a deadly weapon in the form of a 500K sports car.

Put your Vidal bias aside here.

Yeah, but of course there's a whole other dimension to it if someone really does get killed / severely injured.
However, like anything else, if you are an adult and if you think that you may have had too much to drink, then chances are you probably have. And a person like him, with his financial means, could have easily made arrangements for transportation, and not run the risk of injuring or killing himself and others.

It's almost as if people are making excuses for him under the premise that he couldn't control himself or help himself from drinking too much.

Yes, yes he could have controlled himself. He chose not to.

wtf does that mean? you mean to say Italians or the english don't go wild either? cassano, balotelli, wilshere jack fucking grealish even and those 3 guys from leicester city who just got released today for their disgusting acts whilst on a 'goodwill' tour of thailand
Stop it man.

And resorting to "Oh but so and so did this" is an argument 6 year olds use when they're caught doing something wrong.

Arturo did wrong and shouldn't be praised for his moronic behaviour. But people calling for him to be sold or banned by us are retarded.

He's surely 100% Chile's and the authorities responsibility right now, no?

So if i'm Juve, I don't bother causing unnecessary shit because the Chilean authorities and then the National team are the ones to do something about this, in that order.

Say nothing, do nothing. Leave it to the ones more connected to the incident.

Stupid thing to do, but dragging it up again and fining him or worse would be stupid by us. Best striker's fucking off, and we don't want another key player to be unhappy.

Relieved by the maturity of the last page or so. People make mistakes and they learn. Tomorrow's front page:

HUMAN BEING MAKES MISTAKE

He's apologised and this seems to have been a reality check for him. Good thing nobody had to get hurt for him to learn this lesson.

no im defending him because people think they are perfect and if you make a mistake no matter how stupid he shouldn't be forgiven and the club should go to extreme lengths to reconsider signing south american players and punish vidal till he learns his lesson
Come now Badass, surely you can see and admit he made a HUGE stupid mistake here. It's not about being perfect. Leaving your car window open in the rain is a mistake. Forgetting to turn the light off in the kitchen once you leave is a mistake. We all make mistakes, absolutely, but this is one where people could have potentially been killed and of his own choice. If one of your family members did this, would you not be angry with them because you care? We all love the guy, but I think you're looking at it in the wrong way here.

Let's move on from this. He did wrong, took a silly risk but it happens. He has apologised, sincerely, now we should support him.
Definitely!

idiotic thing to do, very lucky to be alive and didnt get anyone else hurt/dead.
He has apologized, hopefully learned his lesson and does not even dare to drive while on root beer.
Now i support him to make better judgment and stay at our beloved club!
