We had the same problem with Pjanic but Pjanic didn't have Arthur's ball wining and keeping ability.

If anyone can improve Arthur's direct passing abilities though surely it's Pirlo.

Arthur is a lot more mobile than Pjanic, can escape pressure better and actually make something of a challenge running back, but they look far apart in terms of that final pass.

It could be unfamiliarity for now but the passes he made forward were not impressive.

To be fair Pjanic was only sideways or backwards passing towards the end too. Last year he was brilliant in like the first month, then he was completely drained and was rather poor the rest of the season.

It sucks that he shows potential to be good but it's like he was never properly instructed in his footballing career.

He's a liability playing in front of the defense and really doesn't take chances.

He can clearly hold the ball but isn't adventurous/creative enough to go for long forward passes. Stops the flow to side pass.

He's a luxury player.

He can't defend or attack but is good at holding onto the ball when under pressure. That's something nice to have when you have a functioning team that can do both defending and attacking. When you can't do either, you need guys in the most important area of the pitch to be able to do at least one of them.

A few sus passes today that could’ve hurt us and a few that were straight turnovers in threatening situations

He wasn’t good advancing too far up and doesn’t have the legs, body, or positional awareness to cleanup for a break going the other way

It's simple: he plays his own game rather than doing what's right for the team.
