Alen Hansen said last night that being top of the table with 4 games to go and failing to win the league was a failure for Liverpool, regardless if the team/fans would have expected it at the start of the season and I agree entirely.

It's difficult to apply this to a cup scenario as they're unpredictable, but bar last years exit to Bayern, Conte has failed in these 'cup final' scenarios.

2012 Coppa Italia final didn't show up at all to an inferior team.
2013 Semi final against Lazio choked to another inferior team.
2014 Champions League group stage I can't even think of this because of how angry it makes me.
2014 EL semi final We couldn't even make our own final- all big clubs would call this a failure.

The postmortem is that Conte keeps blabbing on about fans unrealistic expectations and it's pissing me off, in ALL of these positions we SHOULD have won.

I don't know any fans that are demanding we win the Champions League, the least they expect is to at least beat the teams that we should be expected to and if we go out to giant then so be it, when you've dominated the league for as long as we've done it bloody well IS realistic. Enough with underwhelming, choking displays and moaning Conte.

Man up.
Perfect.

Because he is making excuses. He is preparing his parachute just in case he chokes again against another copenhagen in an easy match and we get kicked out.

Because, when we fail its 1 of 3 things:
1-The team was better than us, because of better players or more money.
2-we got robbed in some way, we were unlucky with ref calls, penalties, bonucci, snowstorms etc
3-The tactician could be at fault for how the game developed. (preparation, tactics, mentality of the team, fatigue, substitutions etc).

Now, i want to ask...which of those 3 options have been NEVER the cause of our exits according to conte?. Yes u have the answer.

Its way easier to fault everyone for the teams shortcomings.... but in a lot of games for example, we have been like "wtf" with his subs...for example in the copenhagen game and the llorente fiasco, when he decided to send giovinco to die against 2 giants, with a long ball plan. madness!. He never mentioned that... but the press, fans and internet did. Everyone did. That is just one example.

The thing that destroys Conte, that is his doom, is the very thing that makes him a good man manager (notice i said man manager, not coach).... is that he thinks is never at fault for anything, he doesnt admit he is wrong and stand his ground even if being wrong. The drive he had as a player and as a coach, his pride... clouds his way of seeing things. He is a warrior but he will never admit defeat, and there are moments where u have to put ur pride aside and say "maybe i $#@!ed it up..lets try again with a new plan". He needs to be much much more humble. But he is not like that. He will not change his way. I think we all understand this. Theres an old saying that says that it is much more difficult to sheate your sword than to unsheathe it.It takes bravery.

This is what IMO limits his development as a coach...and his late delcaration are a clear indicative of this,
and perfect.

I get this, but why did we bring the likes of Peluso, Padoin or Ogbonna. The first 2 were brought after Conte's instructions iirc and yet he rarely uses them. They're $#@!e, but hasn't he known that before? Someone said that it's better if Conte gets more to say regarding transfers, but I cannot agree with that. We've seen players like Borrielo, or Osvaldo that also were acquired after Conte's request, and once again they were utter crap. Everyone seems to knew that and it irked quite a few when Borigoal would get a chance ahead of Matri or Quag, but still Conte saw something in him and I'm sure if it went his way we'd have Boriello right now. Same goes for Osvaldo, there are strong rumors that Conte wants to make his move permanent. IMHO he should tell Marotta specifications, what kind of player for his system he'd like and Great man will deliver, like always.
Yes.

Would really suck to see Conte leave but at least we have a solid enough lineup to still find success. Our team could win Serie A with Del Neri as coach ffs.

even ranieri couldnt finish second with this team
Our team isnt that good.We are like United pre-moyes atm where the coach is enhancing the quality of the side.United with saf looked a different team despite having many above average players but that
quality soon got exposed when they hired the inept moyes.I very much relate this Juve to Man United.
If we hire a del neri esque coach,we'll likely finish 7th again.

I totally disagree. Look at this team 4/5 years ago. Melo, Pepe, Matri, Krasic, Tiago, and other shitty players.

Nowadays we have GREAT players. Barzagli, Vidal, Pogba, Pirlo, Asamoah, Licht, Tevez, Llorente. It's not even close.

Conte is important yes, but this team has great players, I don't think Conte is making the team overachieve, specially if you talk about Europe. These players are more than enough to at least get to 4-finals in CL.

:agree:

Someone like Prandelli or Deschamps would do well with this team.

I dont think Pirlo or Vidal or even Tevez would play any worse if Conte wasnt around. We all now they are class, Pirlo was making great assists even before he "met" Conte.

The 7th was clearly exaggerated but u get my point.
You cant expect some inferior coach romp home the league with this squad.
Its purely down to Conte why we look so dominant in the league. The exception here being our cl failure which has caused ppl into having divided thoughts.

Yeah if we get Allegri I expect a narrow league win or a disgusting 3rd place type of finish.

As good as Conte is, however. There are definitely coaches out there who could pick up where he left off. I won't overrate him purely because he means a lot to us.

 @people thinking other coaches would achieve same results when this guy just broke all kinds of records with this team, do you not understand what he achieved this year or are you that ungrateful/forgetful?? i guess some prefer finishing second in serie A and possibly making the CL 1/4 finals rather than achieving the 3peat with a league record point total.

I hear David Moyes is looking for work. :shifty:
