Why? We brought good players last summer, the likes of Llorente and Tevez certainly would qualify in a top player category; year before Asamoah, Isla and Giovinco were our most prominent acquisitions, also all three coming here after a great season; in the summer of 2011 players like Licht, Vucinic, Vidal and Pirlo. You see the pattern here, we tend to have great mercato, no matter that we didn't spend big on individuals, but our overall expenditure in those 3 years surpassed 200m, the amount spent on established players and some rather promising youngsters.
Considering that we close our books on 30th of June and all investments on the market will occur after that point, our probable loss won't be impacted. For this reason I can see us spending similar amount as in previous seasons, that is between 60-70m. I'm only curious what our strategy will be.
