I'd say no, as they were heavily reliant on Barcas/Bayerns lack of finishing/Cech/luck, Barca and Bayern both created a lot of chances. Real however outplayed Bayern last wednesday, and Atletico didn't outplay Chelsea.

That is exactly what im trying to point out , its happened numerous times that the team playing better has lost , its not unusual or unaccepted , and thats what exactly happened last night.

We weren't outplayed, but it isn't as if we totally played them off the pitch.

They had 2 shots on goal, and we had something like 4. It was a calculated and professional performance from us, tainted by the defensive brain farts. However, we were not totally dominant, peppering their goal with shots, and wasting tons of chances.

They are a quality european team , we dint let them play their game 2 shots on target for an attackin team is not something to proud about.( some think they had a off night giving no credit to our team ) .We had more possession better goal scoring chances i say we except for unfortunate final score , we did outplay them considering it was an away game for us .

Football is a team sport, and it doesn't matter what one player done and the other didn't, all that matters in the end goals scored and goals conceded is all that matters, be it by luck or not. There is a saying that "luck always shines on the strongest", one needs to convert the luck into opportunities and results. Last night Marchisio, Chiellini couldn't do that and that is why we were outplayed.

We weren't outplayed last night IMO, but we could've played better.

What I don't understand is we knew from the beginning that benfica is faster than us. But instead of holding our play, we followed benfica style and played faster football than we usually did. I think starting Llorente would be better than vucinic because he can hold the ball better, giving other player chance to move forward.

We were he better team last nite. I don't know why Raz likes to compare our game with Real-Bayern's, and keep referencing that game's posetssion vs. result situation. In that game Real was in total control of the situation from the get go, they gave away possession on purpose, and they had the tools to defend like that and hurt them whenever suitable.
Benfica is just a regular fast paced eurpean team, they weren't in control of last nite's game, we were. They don't have a good defence and were hangin by a straw trying to hold on to the draw (and before that their lead), when that 2nd goal came out of nowhere.

Does it matter about the losers. No one remembers them. Put it this way, Benfica was conserving their energy. I find it hilarious that all the sudden, ball possession become a subject of great pride.
If we playing like how Benfica did and got the result, no one would care about how we played. Thats the fact. We just are bothered about the result and finding excuses to make ourself happier.

Now this is just one leg, we still got a second leg so why bother. If Conte wins the second leg and qualify like how Benfica played at home so be happy with it. I dun't care how we play as long as we do the job.
At the end of the day, only winning matters. No one remembers the losers , no matter how beautiful you play.

Your talking like a roma fan who because they defeated us in coppa italia said they are as good as us.That is a small team mentality , arsenal said the same when they defeated bayern munich at home last season.
Yes winning is the only thing that counts , we played to win the stats show it , but we lost so what ?. loosing doesnt make you a looser ,its a loosers mentality to think that if beat a team with 2 goals with 2 shots on the night your the better team .
10 years down the road whoever saw that final would say bayern lost it and not chelsea won it , and that is the whole reason di matteo was not 100% for the chelsea job even after winning it. It was under pressure that he was given a chance .
Its not black n white its not so in any sport as a fan you can be subjective , but if you look at it objectively you will see there a million times where people/teams have won undeservingly.

It's just a way for people to pretend we're better than we actually are and shifting the blame onto some 'magical' force. When in reality it's quite clear there were legit reasons for our failures. I.E Bonucci being awful at his job and an overly conservative approach.

Do people think it's acceptable or even sensible to try impossible corners to prevent being countered, yet push the defenders up anyway which exposes us anyway. Not to mention at 1-0 down, it's quite pathetic to view a corner as a time to stop the opposition scoring rather than a chance to pull a goal back. Never seen anything like that.

We are not saying we are better , infact you are over-rating the squad by expecting to trash other teams. I think for the squad we have and the way its been built we are doing good.
Bonucci obviously has made us pay this year in europe i agree.
What is the use of taking long corners , when counter attacks is your weakness due to lack of pace ?.
You first protect your goal first i dont know understand why its so difficult to read...that a draw is better than a loss a win is better than both when you play away .
At 1-0 down you can play safe and always later in the game make it 1-1 which we did , rather than opening ourselves up and loosing 2 or 3- 0.
Before the game everyone was worried about their lethal attack , we bloody neutralized it like anything the had just 2 shots on goal 2 in an away game to benfica...with 1 being that header from a set piece.
How is not that a great performance is beyond me .
