We have to have something other than 3-5-2. If you don't have wingers you can still use something like a 4-1-2-1-2 which will create space for our fullbacks to get forward and have time to set up crosses.

We have to ditch these 3 CBs + Pirlo setup in Europe. It's just too negative.

The 4-1-2-1-2 makes much more sense than the 4-3-3 given our squad. Its not wide enough though (we need width to stretch those who park the bus) and we dont know whether Pogba can be effective as an AM or not and we dont have any AMs in the squad in case he is fatigued or injured. We know for certain that Marchisio cannot play that role.

Either way we should never ditch the 3-5-2 with our current squad UNLESS we are facing a parked bus that we cant break down. This is Europe. Some teams will attack us and we will need the strong midfield and our strikers wont have to suffer as much to score a goal.

who has argued playing licht and asa as a winger aside from raki? Neither are wingbacks, and licht is a rb. Also Who said we have to play a 4-3-3?

And individual mistakes are up to Conte to resolve as well, if he notices a player messing up he's the one to do something. I anticipate ("desperately hope") Isla benched for a while.

He hasn't introduced any new defensive minded players into the setup, it's all similar to last season and the closing half of 2011/12. Unless you're going to go back to when Juve last used 4-3-3 on a regular basis

Once we did that today, Pirlo could not be man-marked because Gala could not afford to commit a man to him with all the people we pushed up front. He became free and delivered an assist. I've never even really seen a 3-5-2 with a regista before. It's always played with 2 CBs and a regista for exactly this reason. A sweeper and a regista are doing the same thing in attack so one or the other is redundant and a waste of a player.

The 4-1-2-1-2 would not build up with width but in the final 3rd it will have width with the fullbacks overlapping.

Our play would be concentrated at first through the middle but because we'd have 2 strikers and an AMC, defenses would be naturally sucked in and would not be able to easily jump out to the fullbacks who can creep up and receive outlet passes around the box.

If Conte is thinking of a change I would bet he is thinking of this given our personnel.

I was talking about stretching the opposition's defense and not our defense getting stretched.

We very rarely get stretched by the way, Licht and Asa do a great job at that. Only Robbery managed to stretch us bad.

They'd have FBs to offer them plenty of cover and Tevez is really hardworking player who would need to drop back a little if he's to play as a winger.

But as things stand, if you rely on the likes of Isla, giovinco, Asamoah and Licht as attacking wingers, they'll be neutralized like any other mid-table team's players get neutralized most of the time and opponents wont be forced to play through the middle or park the bus. A 4-3-3 with our current squad would be almost a copy of the 3-5-2 only Asa and licht will have their offensive weaknesses exposed and their defensive qualities will be under-utilized.

you don't realize that in current system, litch and asa practically play to cover from RB/LB to RM/LM and RWF/LWF? if you don't have enough brain to understand that and why just with adding more wide players even if they aren't ribery/ronaldo, will greatly help asa/litch and the whole team, then you are just hopeless in this discussion.
