This year we have done extremely well, it's that simple.

When you keep going on about 'missed opportunities' and 'learning lessons' what are you talking about exactly? The only way we improve our team is with high quality players. They cost a lot, this has been covered many times by both club personnel and forum members.

Here's the thing, friends... If we had Lippi, Capello, Mourinho, SAF or any other "world-class" coach, we still would've lost the game.

1- Bayern's squad is better than Juve's by large landslide. We knew this since the beginning of the season. In 1-to-1 battles between players, Conte can do nothing about Ribery taking the better of his best defender Barzagli or Lahm and Muller making Peluso looks like an amatuer.
2- Bayern has virtually won the Bundesliga, rested a lot of important players and had a training session against HSV while we still fight for the scudetto and had a hard battle away from home with one of our fieriest rivals.
3- Despite their total domination, if Bayern didn't get that early lucky goal, ref called an offside for their 2nd goal and gave us a penalty for Lichtsteinter, everybody would be here hailing Conte for masterminding the best tactical approach in history. Small details matter and in our case it went totally wrong.
4- Everybody approved Conte's starting 11 even though you're not really aware who's ready and who's not because only Conte can monitor his players on daily basis.
5- Players had an absolute shocker, Buffon was Valdesish, Pirlo looked like a dead man, Marchisio was non-existant, the entire defense was shaky, Quag/Matri failed to hold up one single ball to start a proper attack. Vuci/Gio didn't improve anything, Pogba too. Conte cannot sub out everybody and it's not smart to make all your subs early on and then have one or two players injured, say 20 minutes from FT.

Not saying that Conte is not making any mistakes, but in this particular game, it's out of Antonio's hand.. For example, Asamoah would've been a better option than Peluso but we would've still lost the game. Reaching the QF and winning the scudetto again is simply amazing and as @Hist mentioned, Managers like Klopp (with his Bundesliga holders) failed to even get out of the group stage in his first CL attempt.
Don't forget Bayern didn't play their hearts out in the league match unlike us who were grinding a result days before with almost the same players on field.

I'm guessing Peluso was a tactical decision to cover Muller or Kroos initially but then Robben came in and made a big mess to that side. Conte could sub Peluso with Asamoah to destroy Robben but Asamoah offered less offensive power. He didn't want that while we desperately need a goal for an equalizer (again a misfortune on that first goal) and decided to wait. When the scoreline was 2-0 though it was too late.

About Matri-Quag, what choice did he have? He held to the hope that their form could extend to this match while not risking Mirko. Conte clearly deemed Anelka not enough and decided to fill the sub slot with unfit Mirko and (probably a bit injured) Gio.

Conte took a risk with that starting lineup and too bad almost everything didn't work to his favour.

We have a deep squad, we have a lot of room to convert our line-up/formation against any opponent, but instead of it we are stuck with 352 and the same kind of play, we became predictable

Predictable in the way we play? Heynckes said before the game that Juventus have a lot of creativity and attacks that are hard to follow as they come from different areas.

Or predictable in keeping the same formation? I'd say how many top teams change theirs?

The Padoin + Peluso = Cavani argument, gotcha.

Oh, thank you so much! I now finally get it! We are just not a top team! Buffon said before match that we will find out are we a top team or not. Now the answer is easy to guess. We are just not a top team, coz we do not have any money! How do americans say:No money - no honey or no money - no business. Right? So why are we fucking our minds here in a desperate attempts to find out why are we so pathetic it's like everyone was sure we are going to win CL. =))

IMO self-belief was the biggest issue.

The team just got completely KO'ed with the early goal, had a knock on effect on everything.

That cant be coached, just comes with experience.

Bayern didn't payed for the half of their team, wtf you are talking about here, no way that they are spending more than we do/did:
Neuer - 22 mln euro
Lahm - pupil
Dante - 4.7 mln euro
Van Buyten - 8 mln euro
Alaba - pupil
Robben - 24 mln euro
Luis Gustavo - 17 mln euro
Mandzukic - 14 mln euro
Schweinsteiger - pupil
Ribery - 25 mln euro
Muller - pupil

They only spent 40 millions on Javi Martinez, that's the truth, but Vidal is 10 time better player than Martinez imo and they wanted Vidal at first....

So, Marotta is telling me that Juventus can't afford a big spendings?!
Diego - 27 millions - fail
Amauri - 24 millions - fail
Melo - 25 millions - fail
Asamoah - 18 millions - decent
Isla - 18 millions - fail
Elia - 11 millions - fail
Krasic - 15 millions - fail in the end of it
Martinez - 12 millions - fail
Matri - 18 millions - decent
Vidal - 13 millions - amazing
Vucinic - 15 millions - good
Bonucci - 15.5 millions - good

Coaches always plan for 30 second flukes.
After the goal, it was always going to be our turn to take the game to bayern (plan B,C whatever everyone wants to call it) problem was it happened right at the start without them breaking a sweat. Still it all looked fine with Kroos hardly troubling Pirlo, and Marchisio having more freedom untill Robben's forced sub which took both players out of the game (what I meant with Heineken's having it all planned... not)

I don't know man, the way I see it players massively failed him as well, regardless of whatever tactical approach we had.

since Conte started to switch to 3-5-2, it never convinced me even when we win with it. we had far more shots on goal,a lot more possession and successful passing with 4-3-3.

Pirlo was having fun with that formation. now he need skillful strikers to throw any pass at them so they control it and hold it to allow other to push up in building up play, and its becoming too easy to limit him when we are facing physically strong players and without wingers all he can do is to pass it back or pass it to the strikers to lose it :(

and it become very difficult if one of Marchisio,Vidal or Pirlo is off form because with 3-5-2 it all depend on their quick decisions. vs Bayern it was only Vidal doing that.. Pirlo was limited and the strikers were not helping in their movements or ball control and Marchisio extremely off form.
