Of course it's about salaries. We're spending big on players too, but can't get the huge names because of the salary cap. They have 3 players on 10m EU or more per year - we couldn't afford that, no way in hell.
Lahm and Schweini are both from their youth sector and fuck me if Gomez is a big name, typical overrated player and Ribery deserved new contract with such a big salary because of his impact for Bayern

Italy has some of the highest tax-rates around. People with a certain amount of income (the higher the income, the more you will be taxed in Italy) could end up paying as much as 50 % of their salaries in tax. Foreigners who work abroad often want net-salary contracts (this is the norm, I used to handle a few contracts like these last year when I was working at a law/accounting-firm), which means that to pay a player who would command a 10 million euro net salary per annum, Juventus would have to dish out up to 20 million euros per year in salaries for that player.

It's just not possible to compete at the moment, with Italy being the way it is.

To make matters worse, the tax laws are only one obstacle that hinders Italy from being competitive right now. We're also talking about one of the countries in Europe which has been hit the hardest by the financial crisis. The unemployment rate is consistently growing, meaning the buying-power of the every day consumer is decreasing (people spend less on gametickets, merchandise, paytv etc.). Then there's infrastructure and the current state of stadiums etc.

So Conte was absolutely right about what he said.

what???
Bayern's youth academy is one of the best
Yeah I was just poking fun at your choice of phrase. It would actually be very unsurprising if the german variation translated to something like 'small person factory enhancement sector'.
Come to think of it perhaps we should enrol Giovinco there :D

What does that have to do with their actual salaries. We can't afford them, they spend way more money on their transfers and salaries combined than we could dream of - they have a team consisting of better individual players, especially in attack.

They stucked with the only one gomez for the past 2 seasons and sucked badly in bundesliga, so what? Big name doesn't mean that you are going to win anything, like i said they are not signing only big names, look at their transfer policy.

Yup, imagine if we had someone like Muller or Mandzuckic who is proficient in scoring plus the ability to run into space and drag defenders out of shape alongside Vucinic. Sex.
Calciopoli what?
Shouldn't really need explaining. Calciopoli, that thing that robbed us of all but 4-5 of our best players. And they were older players at that, with only Buffon currently remaining.

If I take Bayern transfer spending vs Juve's overall since the 2007-08 season (when Juve returned to Serie A and had to rebuild a team) then the net spend is almost the same, just over €200m. Juve have spent more overall, but you balance it out net spend because sometimes you sell to buy, like Milan.

This is Bayern who have been in the CL proper for all but one of the last 16 seasons.

I give up, it just struck me that I have no intention of understanding you.

I did, i just made a table with all the numbers, cause some people think that we are spending more than Bayern
Oh we are, and need to. Remember we spent €100m last season to be able to just win the scudetto after two dismal 7th places.

No one always gets it right, and we have had a few duds, but I think you are not paying enough attention to the context in which Juve have signed players against those Bayern have. Think of Bayern as Juventus pre-Calciopoli.

expenditures tell shit if you don't know how much they net from sales
Bayern €77m, Juventus €136m.
