It's not decent anymore Melo. We have lost 8 points to Genoa, Chievo, Bologna and Catania and we are yet to play against the likes of Napoli, Udinese, Lazio, Inter, Palermo and Roma.

You can't win the Scudetto if you don't beat the small/midtable teams but you do have a realistic chance of winning it only and only by beating all the small/midtable teams home and away.

This is the point that people like Melo and myself are making.

Winning the scudetto was never ever going to happen this season.

The start is decent because the objective is 3rd.

This squad cannot win the scudetto. It's not possible.

If you are dreaming about the Scudetto, you should wake up by now. You don't finish 1st after finishing 7th twice.

Genoa, Chievo, Bologna and Catania are all very tough opponents for us. Especially Catania and Chievo away. I am not too worried about that.

Freak occurences do happen from time to time, like Kaiserslautern 1998, Leeds United 1992 etc., but they are so seldom that they're hardly worth the mention.

Epic when they do happen, but let me tell you one thing straight: Our current squad does not have what it takes to win this championship. It's just too obvious.

Still, if you want to keep dreaming, then that's really none of my business. Good for you, I guess. But I suspect nights like these are gonna hurt even more. IMO it's not worth it.

When we get one or two more top players, I will start dreaming too.

Even with the team we have, it's inexcusable to lose points against Bolognas and Chievos. So, if we had already won those games (which was the best opportunity to cash in on our rivals' slip ups), we would have made a huge gap on the top. Getting one of the first three spots is fine to me but I don't think it's unrealistic to think about winning the Scudetto.

I know some will say we did try the 4-3-3 but we really did NOT! Conte plays a 4-3-3 that is more of a 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1.. With a midfield of Vidal Pirlo Marchisio and so many good attacking players we must play a real 4-3-3 where the front 3 are forwards and not defensiv wingers.. FFS we could field Vucinic-Matri-Quag or Elia-Matri-Quag etc... That is a very good attaking front 3.. Genoa would have been crushed with that line up and with our team keeping the defense line high up the field no matter how many goals we score. What we did today was pathetic. and doing it twice is just funny amature shit. 1-0 and we defend. 2-1 we defend. FML!

It's not inexcusable, it's actually quite expected. Because these are teams who will defend with 8-9 men for most of the game.

The reason Milan end up as champions is that they have enough world class players to break down these type of teams on a regular basis.

Like you, I get pissed off as hell when we don't beat these shit teams, but I fear them more than I fear Inter and Milan, to be honest. At least, against Inter and Milan, I know that we will be creating goalscoring opportunities.

Why does Elia not get a run? He can't be worse than any of these headless chooks.
My guess is that it's because the defensive element in Elia's play is either close to non-existent or missing completely.

Having seen Estigarribia tonight, I noticed how much he helped out defensively. We also see it in players such as Pepe and Giaccherini.

I think Conte won't unleash Elia at all, until he's confident that Elia can help out defensively as well as offensively.
