Good start for Conte, we actually looked really good as well today, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Good use of subs as well, they all made a difference. This has been a big problem with the last few managers so hopefully conte can get it right.

Ah Conte, its kind of early to decipher what we saw, the team obviously need more time to gel and optimize the gaming plan Conte has inducted.
I saw many good elements.
It seems that he will be the first coach after Capello, that he actually has a game plan.
Because DD,CR, Ferrar and DN didnt!!

The players were just hoping around waiting for things to happen, now they seem to have rules that they are trying to follow.
We have pre determined automatisations, preemtive-runs and one twos that in happen in a speed that demonstrate that were worked before the match and are part of a pattern!!

Which is great IMO as it actually shows that we have a COACH! Finally...

Of course some of them failed, but as time goes by and the players will assimilate the system, they will optimize their performance!
I m not worried about them.
What i m worried of:
-The insist on stupid percentage of mediocre Italians, hopefully that was part of the rotation and his plan to gradually induce the new players.
-The ocassional desperate long balls, that dont seem avoid and are jsut a waste of possesion.
-The lack of support from the midfield to the sitty defense, the Melo we sold off, that wasnt needed in this game, but will be needed against decent opposition.
-The lack of a link between the midfield and forward line, the Diego we sold off, that results in either very isolated forwards, either the SSs, like DP being forced to return in the middle of the stadium and sprint/dribble through half of it, or the CMs to push forward and expose the defense far too much on counterattacks.

Our multi face/dimensional attacking line will help us in many cases, because unlike last season, we can now create both from the left side and the center, and we dont solely rely on Krasic, which quickly becomes extremely predictable and is very easily dealt with.
It also makes sense why we dont have a finisher, apart from Toni in our squad, as we only need SSs who can create, run and dribble from the center of the pitch towards the opposition territory.
Thats the major issue we are going to face, but we have so many quality SS, we can use, so we will always have a rested sprinter, able to dribble through whole squads.
I m just curious to see what will happen vs competent clubs!

Another good thing I saw from the match is that the team was not strict to three lines only as we looked the recent years, even during the Capello spell.

I remember the whole, bringing in ex-player knee jerk reactions. This man is different to ferrara in many ways. This guys passion is next to none. We saw that during the playing days too and I was in no doubt, that this plus, his experience at the lower divisions in which he was willing to take risks, sticking to how he does things, even if it looked different and adventurous no matter what (which was reason behind is failiure at atalanta) and play good football meant that we very well have something here which we didnt have. Im glad his raising eyebrows and I hope he continues to do so. Forza Conte, he may have made what are odd decisions. Im sure if things went wrong today, people would have wacked him for the starting line up etc and what not. However its turned the opposite, his got work to do but does so with passion I havent ever seen. Maybe im going too far after the first game, but maybe just maybe, we might see a real rejuvenation. His said some nice post match words. Satisfied, but gutted about conceding a goal. Something like this would never come out of our previous coaches. They would ignore we even conceded a goal. Its good that he dwells on the mistakes rather than the overly optimistic previous coaches, who even when we lost, always had good stuff to say. Conte says it how it is. More outspoken than Lippi, but seems no different to him, in how he expresses himself in the changing room.

Excellent reaction when we were struggling with possession midway through the second half to take Del Piero out and bring in Vidal.

He was spot on today, everything was right.

Its too early to judge even if we win the next 7 games 5-0. The real test comes when the team gets a string of bad results. If the team is able to respond and go back to winnings ways after that then he is a good coach.

Ranieri had long winning spells with us (at least unbeaten spells) but in his last season at some point the team crashed and was never able to get back to consistent winning ways. Ciro's team crashed before the Inter match. The Inter win showed a glimpse of hope but then Bayern applied the dagger to our team's heart and we never recovered in Ciro's as well as Zach's reign again. Under Del Neri too, we were doing very good in the league and we never went back to good form ever since the Parma thrashing. It takes character to get back to winning ways even with a bad squad.

I believe a good coach is one who instills character into his team and I find that this is a much more important attribute than tactical knowledge and the same applies for players. Ferguson's advantage over all coaches he faced in the EPL is primarily one of character as opposed to Arsenal. Inter are still living off the character mourinho instilled in them.
