Before I've had some respect for this media proclaimed "biggest band in the world", but all that has vained during the years to actual resentment.

Today the sale has started for their concert in Zagreb, on Dinamo's Maksimir stadium, and we are being tortured by the newspapers, radio, TV, internet sites by the mention of U2, every 15 minutes.

Biggest band in the world? Biggest in what? There has never existed a more commercialised band in the world. They have not released a half decent album since 1991's "Achtung Baby", which was their last work of art. Everything after that was the same old shit wrapped in new wrapping. Their latest album is a shame to the whole genre of Rock. Downright pathetic.

360 Tour...wow a stage that revolves so everyone can see that politican Bono as good as possible. Ever since the Zooropa tour they've become more concentrated on making as big of a stage as possible, than putting on a good show and playing good music.

No offense to the usual U2 fan, but I've really become sick of this once, very good band.

U2 were an absolutely fantastic band, but they have not made a decent record since Achtung Baby

But it's one hell of an album.
oh aye, right up till there they were constantly progressing their sound, rattle and hum was superb but achtung baby was the pinnacle of their career and it has been a generic sounding slide since then

I was never a fan, not even liked their music one bit and ever since this commercialization that Vlatko mentioned I've totally avoided them. So yes, you can say I am anti U2. They simply don't exist for me.

They sold out the stadium in 12h. 63,000 tickets supposedly gone and they'll try to add another Zagreb date. What is wrong with people? I'd understand if this was 20 years ago when they were making good music, but not for this...

Easy. Lack of competition makes people fall head over heels for garbage. Reality tv, do I need to say more?

Actually don't really have an opinion on U2. Not my kind of music, but it's not too bad.

U2 sucks, I love some of their songs, but they have never been something special to me. I'm big fan of "The Cranberries" and Ronan Hardiman's music, the celtic music is awesome. And the Irish drunk songs are brilliant, here's my favourite:

    :weee:

And I remember one great song called "kiss my Irish ass" but can't remember who the artists were.

    Here's another one

love the chorus. Mind you I'm not politically involved into this conflict, I just love the songs.

    The cranberries are legends!

Good band, had it's moments, but i've never agreed with the biggest band in the world hype.Ive listened to a lot of u2,and i like them, but i think there have been much, much better bands than them.Kill me if you want, but i even think The Josua Tree is slightly overated as an album.Im not saying its bad.Its a top album, but not as good as people make it out to be.The U2 of today sucks balls, big time.Irritating is too small a word to describe them.

I thought they were gret in the 80's and early 90's.But they have lost it now.Bono's activism doesnt irritate me.What irritates me his ability as a musician now. He's fizzled out.So has The Edge.Ive never rated Edge as a guitarist, even though a lot of people think he's great. He's always revolved around being good average to bad average.

The one great song they've come up off late is 'Window In The Skies'.That for me,wasnt just great. It's one of U2's greatest, most underated songs.Id even go on to say that it's one of the best post 2000 songs out there. But when on the other hand you come up with shit like Vertigo,Beautiful Day,Sometimes you cant make it on your own...that pisses me off. What pisses me off even more is when their last two, utterly horrible albums, are met with critical acclaim.

    u2 is dead.It's just sad.Almost all 80's giants have lost their touch,but with u2 it's a different,much more tragic case.

Love some of their songs but like you guys said, after that album they got busy saving the world instead of making a decent album.

God forbid somebody try to make a difference in this world.
But that's not the issue, Andy. Making a difference is good, I go to work on a bicycle and for me it counts for something. I do other small things that make me feel better about contributing from my part to doing something.

The point is commercializing what you do. Hey look at me, I saved 100 starving children. Hey look at me, I protected some elephants from being hunted.
