IMO Pizarro can cover for Pirlo, but I am not sure about his fitness. Palombo is ideal player to Contes Juventus. Could easily cover for any of our CMs.

Tuttojuve claims a deal is made with Sampdoria. Loan + option to buy Angelo Palombo for €6 mill.

I prefer him to Montolivo & Pizarro.
If somebody asked me to name 3 signings I think could happen, Palombo would be one of those 3.

Big fan of Pizarro, but I rather not take the risk with his fitness. Also heard he wanted a return back to Chile very soon, that can't be good for us long term.

Monty? I prefer physical players like Palombo. I rather have Palombo to come in a game than Montolivo, he'll win the ball back and hold onto it.

Ability > Physicality, and Palombo is defenitely inferior to both, Monto and Pizarro are both CMs and can handle themselves in a 3 man midfield, either underrating them or overrating the usefulness of a pretty rigid and conservative player like Palombo.

Palombo is a great player, no one can deny that. A very good backup for Pirlo. Maybe a bit too defensive in his approach to play "exactly" like Vidal or Marchisio but I expect he would make their position fit his own movements and abilities. He can't play like any of those two so he would have to approach it his own way. Having the exact same kind of player like Vidal, Pirlo or Marchisio might even be a disadvantage regarding dynamic of player types in the team. However, if we get Palombo I would like to get rid of Pazienza. Not that he's awful but that he's kind of average and I would rather give Marrone and others more time on the pitch (get experience). Something that Pazienza currently is keeping them from gaining and with Palombo on top of that they would never get any time on the pitch even if we play in CL and what not.

Conclusion: Thumbs up IF we get rid of Pazienza after this season AND IF Palombo really is up for it. If Palombo isn't motivated then he won't be useful at all. Kind of stating the obvious here but still wanted it to be said.

Thatwould be overrating the usefulness of Palombo :D

I appreciate Montolivo and Pizarro's qualities. I've wanted the latter here for years. Would be really glad if it went through.

What if we need creativity rather than physicallity? We're kinda settled for it with Pazienza in the squad anyway.

Creativity, though... it's not like we'll always be winning to simply manage the game into a more defensive approach.

Maybe fantacalcio but Italian media says Guidolin would want Pazienza at Udinese because they are losing players for the Africa cup in January.
