My point isn't that Caceres is world class, just that he's been our 2nd best defender and due to that he probably deserves to start.

Caceres is not a CB. He's good enough to be Licht's replacement for RB.

The only one that fit 3 man defense is Bonucci. The rest would be better of in a 4 man backline imo.

He was playing for pretty much the first time in moths, he only made one blunder, for that one Conte specicially told him to pass back, and he had a pretty good crossed assist a couple of minutes later.

Definitely. Barzagli and Chiellni aren't that bad but bonbon and Ogbonna are definitely too slow.

Chiellini's cost us too. We played 4 man back line first time since ages. You could see our players were a bit uncomfortable because they had different habits. Especially the defenders.

He made one blunder which cost us a goal, but it doesn't mean it was his only one mistake in that game. He was very shaky in first half and the most dangerous situations to score Real had because of him. But this is not the most important thing, because - as you mentioned above, we can shift the responsibility onto Conte as well. Maybe he wasn't ready and Conte put him in the lineup too quickly after that car accident?

But, the problem is that Caceres is prone to make blunders sometimes, just like Bonucci, but to a lesser extent. He is just not good enough to play as a starter RB for us, because offensively he is very limited too. He can cross nice, but he can't run with the ball like Lichtsteiner, he isn't aggresive enough in attack, he doesn't have any idea how to dribble. That's why he should not be our first pick for right back.

I mostly agree with your second paragraph. As a right back he is fine, but does not offer that much going forward. He can cross decently, but can't dribble and his offensive runs are just not good enough.

As a CB or RCB he just isn't really up to the task positioning wise. He's a good back-up, but not fit to start.
